This paper focuses on the analysis and possible interpretation of the images on floor mosaics excavated in the Triconchal Church in Caricin Grad, a city believed to be built by emperor Justinian I. Representations of geometrical motifs, vases with grapes, peacocks, eagles, fruit and birds all indicate the presentation of paradisiacal idea of eternal life after death in heaven. As catechumens proceeded towards the altar of the church passing through the narthex and nave, they literally entered the paradisiacal world culminating in the Eucharist itself. Pictorial design facilitated the locus of a new Eden for catechumens to receive their first Eucharist and therefore helped them redeem primordial sin.en
