National identity from cinematic perspective - example of several Croatian films from the 1990s

The paper analyses the virtual representation of the national identity in films made in Croatia in the last decade of the 20th century. The analysis will serve as a contribution to studying the relationship between the dominant ideological pattern and film within the framework of a specific social context. Anthony Smith's concept of the national identity visual construction serves as an analytical grid of sorts on the basis of which it is established whether and to what extent have films made in Croatian constructed a coherent picture of the national identity.
