Заселци у средњовековној Србији

Abstract

Рад се бави заселцима као посебном врстом насеља у средњовековној српској држави. Заселци су настајали у атарима постојећих сеоских насеља, и било их је на целој територији средњовековне Србије. Они сведоче о променљивости сеоских насеља, али и о демографским кретањима на једном властелинству, жупи или земљи. Број кућа (величина), сопствени атар са међама и посебна колективна одговорност услови су за прерастање заселка у село.

In the Middle Ages, hamlets were formed within the area of a village. At fi rst, they shared the same boundaries and the area of the village in which vicinity they were settled. Th ere were hamlets in all the regions of the mediaeval Serbian state, but most of them were formed in Kosovo and Metohija, in the Lim river area and the Ibar river valley. For a hamlet to be developed into an independent village settlement there had to be a certain number of houses, a separate area with its boundaries and its own local collective duty towards the lord of the estate and the state itself. Th e formation of the hamlets and their development into villages testify to active demographic movements, internal colonisation and an increase in land farming.
