The Use of Internet in the Education of Parents

Abstract

Since its beginning, education of parents is functional - it is based on needs, interests and motivation of parents to be educated and directed towards improving the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that lead to family welfare. Hence, the aims of education of parents can be understood as the development of parental competences and strengthening the family as a whole. Information necessary for understanding the various dimensions of family functioning, their own and their children's development, parents can now search for and find at the most reliable and constant source of information such is the Internet. WWW is probably the best-known acronym in the modern world: refers to the "World Wide Web" and is an integral part of all Internet web address, a global informational "network of networks". The paper presents some results of research and content analysis of sites dedicated to the education of parents. The research aim is to gain insight into the main trends in the offered contents on the sites for parents, and therefore to identify gaps in information available to parents through the "World Wide Web".
