The article deals with life and activities of Priest Nicodim (Grčić) during the second half of the fourteenth century. This Athonite monk and prominent hesychast played an important role in the reconciliation of the Byzantine and the Serbian Church in 1375, being one of the negotiators in the process. His missionary activities were tied to the territory of Wallachia and the Tsardom of Vidin (area of modern Eastern Serbia). In Negotin region he founded two monasteries – Vratna and Manastirica, and in Wallachia – Tismana and Vodița. He enjoyed the support of Wallachian voevodes, Serbian prince Lazar and Ivan Sracimir, ruler od Vidin. He died in 1406 in Tismana, where his Vita has been later composed.sr
