Представе на потрбушју западног лука у Богородичиној цркви у Градцу

Abstract

На потрбушју лука који дели западни травеј од поткуполног простора Богородичине цркве манастира Градца насликана је Хетимасија – Приуготовљени престо који чувају два шестокрила херувима и један анђео на јужној страни лука. Испод њих, у другој зони живописа западног лука, насликани су један наспрам другог, Јоаким на северној и Ана на јужној страни. Реч је о представама које су до сада већ опажене у науци. Ипак, изостало је њихово појединично објашњење, те сагледавање и тумачење као целине и довођење у међусобну везу. У раду је показано да је на западном луку нарочита пажња дата ликовима Јоакима и Ане па је представа Хетимасије, која је подразумевала приказивање Адама и Еве испод припремљеног трона, у градачкој цркви изменила уобичајени изглед. Носиоци идеје оваплоћења у цркви у Градцу уместо Христових предака по телу – Адама и Еве постали су Јоаким и Ана, који су у делима византијских химнографа довођени у везу управо са поменутим прародитељским паром.

On the crown of the soffit of the arch that divide area under the dome from the western bay of the naos of the Church of the Virgin in Gradac Monastery the Hetoimasia is depicted, guarded by two six-winged Cherubs and one Angel on the southern side of the arch. Below the said scene, in the second zone of the frescoes of the same arch, are depicted Joachim (northern side) and Anne (southern side). Since the usual iconography of Hetoimasia implied the representations of Adam and Eve kneeling in front of the throne and bowing toward it, the question is why the figures of the Virgin’s parents were depicted below the mentioned scene. The works of Byzantine writers and hymnographers that accentuate the comparison of Joachim and Anne to Adam and Eve are of special importance for our topic. That parallels, i.e. comparisons of Joachim and Anne with Adam and Eve, can be for example noticed in John of Damascus, Constantinopolitan patriarchs Tarasios and Euthymius, as well as in hymns of Gregory of Nicomedia, etc. They all accentuate the role of Joachim and Anne in the recreation of the world, and interpret Anne’s miraculous conception as the liberation of the sins of Adam and Eve. One verse in the hymn of Romanos the Melodist sung during the Feast of the Nativity of Theotokos express it very eloquently: “Joachim and Anne conceived and Adam and Eve are freed”. Accordingly, in the thematic program of the frescoes on the soffit of the western arch in Gradac a special attention is dedicated to the images of Joachim and Anna, while the representation of Hetoimasia altered its usual appearance. The bearers of the idea of the Incarnation in Gradac katholikon, instead of Adam and Eve, became Joachim and Anne, which were related to the progenitors by Byzantine hymnographers.
