Нишки валија Мехмед Хуршид-паша и крађа стоке у пограничним селима Крушевачког округа 1850–1851

Abstract

Мехмед Хуршид-паша је био валија Нишког ејалета у периоду од 1850. до 1852. године. У време његовог доласка у Ниш биле су учестале крађе стоке у пограничним селима Крушевачког округа, које су вршили Арнаути и поједини Срби из Прокупачке и Куршумлијске казе Нишког санџака. Поводом тога, у Нишу је у два наврата, крајем 1850. и у пролеће 1851. године, боравио Радован Петровић, крушевачки окружни начелник. Он је у име српске владе преговарао са нишким валијом о надокнади штете похараним лицима и спречавању даљих пљачкашких упада у Крушевачки округ. Истовремено, тим поводом се обраћао Високој Порти Константин Николајевић, српски капућехаја у Цариграду. Наш циљ у овом раду је да представимо кораке које је поводом тога предузимала Србија у Нишу и Цариграду, те да укажемо који је био крајњи резултат тих напора. Рад је написан на основу необјављене грађе српске провенијенције.

This paper is dedicated to cattle theft in the border villages of the district of Kruševac, which was carried out by Albanians and some Serbs from the Prokuplje and Kuršumlija kaza of the Niš sanjak. During 1850, a large number of cattle were stolen from the inhabitants of the border villages of Kruševac district. On this occasion, Prince Aleksandar Karađorđević (1842–1858) sent Radovan Petrović, the chief of Kruševac district, to Niš. The vali of Niš Mehmed Hurshid Pasha, wrote to the Sublime Porte regarding the problems at the border, and Mehmed Emin Ali Pasha, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Konstantin Nikolajević, the Serbian representative in Constantinople – kapı kethüdası, addressed the same issue. In the spring of 1851, on the orders from Constantinople, the vali of Niš went with the army to the kazas of Prokuplje and Kuršumlija and found 1,292 heads of stolen cattle, which represented 41.9% of the stolen livestock. Although not all of the stolen cattle were returned, for the first time the Ottoman authorities carried out a military action to return the cattle that had been stolen from the inhabitants of the border villages of the Kruševac district. Mehmed Hurshid Pasha played a significant role in that. For this reason, at the beginning of 1852, he was appointed the muhafiz of Belgrade.
