The parakklesion of Saint Euthymios in Thessaloniki and the parakklesion of the Theotokos Pammakaristos in Constantinople were built by protostrator Michael Glabas Tarchaneiotes and his wife Maria Doukaina Brana Palaiologina at the beginning of the 14th century. The wall paintings of these two chapels are very complex, especially the cycle of Saint Euthymios as well as the composition of the extended Deesis in the parakklesion of the Pammakaristos within which the portrait of Saint Euthymios is painted. These compositions testify to interconnectedness of the wall painting of this two parakklesia and to the ktetor’s private piety toward Saint Euthymios who was their private patron.sr
