A signiicant number of personal objects and memorabillia which belonged to the famous Serbian composer Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac are exibited in his memorial house in Negotin. The displayed legacy consists of objects originating from the famous composer’s surroundings such as furniture and household objects but also mementos from his travels throughout Europe. An important group of objects in the collection contains artistically manufactured memorabillia presented to the composer on the occasion of the solemn celebration of twenty ive years of his artistic inluence and work. The very ambient of the memorial house also depicts the local cultural history of Negotin Krajina, the birthplace of the composer, since certain displayed objects belonging to the civil culture of Negotin from the XIX and the irst decades of XX century are displayed as a complement to the remainder of the collection, thus contextualising the exibited material in more detail within the epoch when the prominent composer lived and created. The celebration of Mokranjac’s jubilee took place in Belgrade in May 1909. On that occasion he was presented with St Sava’s Medal of the Third Grade by King Petar I Karađorđević. During the same event he was presented with a memorabillia in the shape of a lighthouse made of wood and created by the sculptor Jaroslav Krejčik. Moreover, he was given a wooden lyre by the members of the Belgrade Singing Society. These important memorabillia are preserved to this day and exibited in the memorial house of Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac. Among the objects Mokranjac brought from his travels representing the cultures he encountered, an Ottoman table of kursi type and one samovar from Russia but also a Seccessionist vase from Bohemia are preserved. The collection also entails parts of dining furniture such as chairs and cupboards adorned by wood carving techniques and made by his wife Mica Mokranjac. Numerous household objects and Pirot rugs are also preserved in the house testifying about the way of life of the famous Serbian composer and cultural models through which he passed at the turn of the XX century.sr
