Представе светог Алексија Божјег човека, светог Јована Каливита и светог Јефросина Повара у византијском и поствизантијском зидном сликарству

Abstract

Предмет овог рада јесу представе тројице светих монаха – Алексија Божјег човека, Јована Каливита и Јефросина Повара – у византијском и поствизантијском живопису. У првом делу текста наведени су бројни сачувани прикази ових светитеља у сликаним програмима храмова источно-хришћанског света и истакнуте њихове иконографске особености. Анализа житија наведених светих, у другом делу рада, показала је да је присуство заједничких биографских елемената и сличних подвига разлог због чега су свети Алексије Божји човек, свети Јован Каливит и свети Јефросин Повар у иконографским програмима храмова веома често довођени у непосредну везу. Посебна пажња посвећена је специфичним решењима и просторном размештању њихових представа у сликаним програмима неколико храмова. У највећем броју случајева, повезивани су ликови светог Алексија Божјег човека и светог Јована Каливита, који су смештани један поред другог, један наспрам другог или један у близини другог. Сличну програмску поставку, мада са нешто мањим бројем сачуваних примера, имале су и представе светог Алексија Божјег човека и светог Јефросина Повара, као и прикази потоњег светог и Јована Каливита.

After performing an iconographic and programme analysis of numerous preserved representations of St. Alexios the Man of God, St. John Kalyvitis and St. Euphrosynos the Cook, the paper discusses the widespread custom of connecting the three saints in Byzantine and post-Byzantine wall painting, which arises from their common biographical elements and the particular feats described in the biographies of these saints. The most frequently paired are Alexios the Man of God and John Kalyvitis, and their images were placed one next to the other (Kakopetria, Mirož, Mileševa, Vitsa), one near the other (Timotesubani, Studenica, Dohiar) or, which was the most frequent solution, one opposite the other (Mavriotisa near Kastoria, Gradac, Philantropinon). Moreover, Alexios the Man of God and Euphrosynos were depicted one near the other (Diliu, refectory of Hilandar), one opposite the other (refectory of Esphigmenou, narthex of Dionisiat), but also in the immediate neighbourhood (Gračanica, Galataki in Euboea, refectory of the Great Lavra). St. John Kalyvitis and Euphrosynos are also connected by the particular placement of their representations in the church spaces (Žiča, Gračanica, St. Sophia in Ohrid, Psača), that is, by positioning their figures one opposite the other (Dečani, Ravanica, Dormition of the Mother of God in Kalabaka). Furthermore, the representations of all three saints are connected in the iconographic programmes of several churches. For instance, in St. George in Assari on Crete and in the monastery of Varlaam in Meteora, their figures are placed in the immediate vicinity of one another, while several specific solutions are proof of the custom of presenting two of the three saints together or as companion images, while the third ascetic is painted in the direct vicinity of one of the two, or on the opposite wall surface (narthex of Dohiar, St. Nicholas in Vitsa, St. Sophia in Ohrid, Galataki in Euboea, refectory of the Great Lavra and of Dohiar, Dormition of the Mother of God in Kalabaka, etc.).
