Helena, Serbiae regina: поводом 75 година од оснивања Републичког завода за заштиту споменика културе

Abstract

Овом изложбом представљамо део средњовековне културне историје Србије и то XIII века, периода који у потпуности осликава све оне сегменте живота и државности који су проткании кроз наше битисање на Балкану – трагање за балансом између снажних утицајних струја, које су долазиле са истока и запада, севера и југа, који нам је отварао ретке, никада превише дуге периоде мира и просперитета. Тринаести век је у целој Европи обележен великим променама,падом Цариграда у руке Латина, крсташким ратовима, монголском инвазијом у којој је нестала Кијевска кнежевина (Kievan Rus), али и последњим деценијама раста популације, експанзије економије и урбанизације, као и градитељског и уметничког узлета касног средњег века, који су јењавали већ с првим годинама XIV столећа. У години када славимо пола века од доношења Конвенције и 75 година од оснивања Републичког завода ова изложба о краљици Јелени и њеној задужбини и маузолеју, манастиру Градац кроз више слојева осликава све вредности српског средњовековног стваралаштва, али и нашу посвећеност да те вредности истражимо, заштитимо и очувамо поштујући највредније принципе савремене конзерваторскорестаураторске праксе.

Cette exposition nous permet de vous présenter un volet de l’histoire culturelle médiévale serbe du XIIIe siècle, une période qui reflète absolument tous les segments de la vie et de la qualité étatique imprégnant notre existence dans les Balkans – une quête de l’équilibre entre les courants puissants et influents venant de l’Est et de l’Ouest, du Nord et du Sud, qui parfois nous apportait de rares périodes de paix et de prospérité, jamais de longue durée. Dans toute l’Europe, le treizième siècle était marqué par de grands changements, avec la chute de Constantinople qui tomba aux mains des Latins, les Croisades, l’invasion mongole qui fit disparaître la principauté de Kiev (la Rus’ de Kiev), mais également par les dernières décennies de la croissance démographique, de l’expansion économique et urbaine, ainsi que d’un élan architectural et artistique du bas Moyen Âge, qui s’estompait déjà à l’aube du XIVe siècle. Alors que cette année nous célébrons un demi-siècle depuis l’adoption de la Convention et le 75e anniversaire de la création de notre Institut national, cette exposition sur la reine Hélène, sa fondation, son mausolée et le monastère de Gradac, reflète d’une manière aux multiples facettes les valeurs du génie médiéval serbe, mais également notre engagement pour les observer, préserver et sauvegarder, tout en respectant les principes les plus importants des procédés de conservation et de restauration modernes.

This exhibition presents a part of Serbia’s medieval cultural history of the thirteenth century, a period that fully reflects all segments of life and statehood that have permeated our existence in the Balkans – the quest to find balance between strong currents that came from the east, west, north and south in rare and never very long periods of peace and prosperity. (Fig. 1) The thirteenth century was marked by dramatic changes in all of Europe: the fall of Constantinople to the Latins, the Crusades and the Mongol invasion that wiped out Kievan Rus but also, in its last decades, population growth, economic expansion and urbanization and, finally, the flourishing of architecture and arts in the late medieval period, which would begin to wane already in the first years of the fourteenth century. This year, which marks the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention and the 75th anniversary of the founding of our Institute, this exhibition on Queen Helen and Gradac, her foundation and mausoleum, offers a multi-layered insight into the merits of Serbian medieval creative production and reflects our commitment to researching, protecting and safeguarding them in line with the loftiest principles of modern conservation-restoration practices.
