Influence of culture on motivation in work organisations
Апстракт
U radu se nastoje osvetliti kulturni uticaji na procese motivacije u organizacijama. Za razliku od druge dve bitne determinante sfere rada - tehnologije i društvenog sistema, u sociologiji rada i sociologiji organizacije analiza uticaja kulture na organizacione strukture, sisteme i procese je dugo bilo relativno zanemareno područje istraživanja. Pokazalo se da je većina najznačajnijih teorija motivacije kulturno ograničena, tj. da su njihove osnovne pretpostavke i zaključci u velikoj meri izraz vrednosti i normi kulture SAD u kojoj su i nastale. Kada je reč o uticaju kulture na motivaciju u organizacijama, analizirana su prvenstveno shvatanja Hofstedea, te Erez i Erlija. Na kraju rada je analiziran uticaj globalizacije i novoliberalne ideologije na promenu kulturnih obrazaca u post- socijalističkim društvima (uključujući i društvo Srbije), kao i moguće posledice tih promena po prirodu motivacionog procesa u našim radnim organizacijama. .
In the paper an attempt has been made to enlighten cultural influences on motivational processes in organizations. Unlike two other important determinants of the sphere of work - technology and social system, the analysis of impact of culture on organizational structures, systems and processes has been rather neglected field of study in sociology of work and sociology of organization. The study revealed that majority of the most important theories of motivation has been culture-bound, in other words that their basic assumptions and conclusions represent values and norms of US culture in which they originated. As for cultural influences on motivation in organizations, standpoints of Hofstede and Earley and Erez have been mainly analyzed. Finally, the influence of globalization and neo-liberal ideology on change of cultural patterns in post-socialist countries has been presented, as well as their possible implications to motivational process in Serbian work organizations. .
