The impact of Hulsman's ideas on the control of problematic situations: the case of Serbia

Abstract

The authors addressed the question of the possible impact of Hulsman's ideas on the situation in the formal and informal reaction to criminality in Serbian society. They did this through the analysis of the basic tendencies in the penal system and the application of alternative ways of responding, especially restorative justice, and all this based on the social milieu of postmodern Serbia. They paid special attention to considering the possibilities for the expansion of restorative justice mechanisms, which Hulsman particularly insists on.
