AB - This dissertation analyses of the phenomenon of “extended youth“ in Belgrade. This phenomenon implies “prolonged“ transition to adulthood, financial, residential, and other dependence of young people in their parental homes. This phenomenon is approached from an anthropological perspective, mainly by identifying cultural representation of time, life cycle, space, household, emotions and family care of individuals experiencing “extended youth“, as well as their perspective on “the other” young people (both globally and locally). The main research hypothesis is that the “extended youth“ is, in addition to the economic and political situation, determined by the “cultural logic“ of a particular sociocultural context. Therefore, the aim of this doctoral dissertation is to describe and analyse cultural meanings and cultural representations related to the understanding of the youth, dependance and the coresidency. The present work also examines the extent to which economic and political factors pushed for the “extended youth”, by offering a complementary explanation of the impact of cultural representations on the perception of mature coresidency as a “good choice” in the examined context. Last but not least, the dissertation decisively contributes to research on cultural representations of the life and perspectives of young people in Serbian anthropology. The qualitative method and field research, as well as the in-depth interviews, were chosen for the purposes of the present work as the methods that will most effectively emphasize the cultural representations related to the studied phenomenon. The obtained results present how the research participants perceive their current positions, expect their future to look like, as well as their perception of “good“ youth, parenthood, care etc. The conclusions confirm the main assumption about the influence of cultural representations on the phenomenon of “extended youth“.

AB - In this monograph, the subject of the research is the ethnic identification of the inhabitants towards the symbolic border
(physically invisible) in Mostar and the Inter-Entity Boundary
Line in Sarajevo. Both lines are the consequences of the 1992–
1995 war, as well as post-war activities. The identification process at the ethnic level was explored in relation to the symbolic
border in the case of Mostar, and the physical one in the case
of Sarajevo. The research also covered identification processes
at regional and local levels. In both cities, ethnic identification
include religious identification, which is first and foremost represented by those who consider themselves members of particular confessions, and then as form of specific cultural tradition
(folk religion), which include celebrations of specific holidays
and respecting certain religious prohibitions. The aim of this
monograph was to determine the modalities by which the population of (un)officially and (in)formally divided cities of Mostar
and Sarajevo perform primarily their own ethnic, thus religious,
regional and local identifications, as well as analyzing attitudes,
thoughts and social practices (perceptions) related to the establishing borders in the urban spaces by which those identifications are carried out. Two case studies have shown how the populations of these cities observe the concepts of the borders and
how they influence the creation and formation of primarily their
ethnic, and then regional and local identifications. Differences
were investigated within the studied ethnic communities in both
cities (Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats and Others). The studies show that they are distinct within their established inner symbolic or
physical boundaries within the same ethnic community, as well
as the inhabitants of one urban zone or region.
The perception of space as a basis for identification was
studied during fieldwork from 2017 to 2019. The locations
where the research was conducted were in the territories of the
City of Mostar, the City of Sarajevo and the City of East Sarajevo, in both entities (Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and
Republika Srpska) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the reliance
on relevant literature and media data. The ways in which specific parts of space (borders) affect interethnic communication and
interaction, whether they are formally (legally) and administratively, physically invisible (symbolically) or existing (physically),
have been explored. In addition to statistics and media reports,
most of the material related to the ethnic identification of Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats and Others was collected through fieldwork.
Both hypotheses in this study were confirmed. The first hypothesis to start with, is that the border in Mostar divides two
politically and ideologically different public spaces on a symbolic level, which is why the parts of the city where a certain ethnic
community mostly lives are more emphasized. This affects the
perception of residents in the form of their attitudes, thoughts
and practices. Inner boundaries in Mostar are built between
members of the same ethnic community or different ethnic
communities, depending on the oppositions between: city and
village; city and surrounding area on one side and the rest of
the region on the other; and one region in relation to the other.
The second hypothesis is that the physical border (Inter-Entity
Boundary Line) between Sarajevo and East Sarajevo divides two
political and ideological public spaces on a symbolic level. However, peoples’ perceptions differ, as well as their daily lives that
run smoothly in relation to the border. Inner boundaries in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo are built between members of the same
ethnic community or different ethnic communities, depending
on several oppositions. First, between different parts (quarters)
of the same city – Sarajevo or East Sarajevo. Then, between parts
of two cities (Sarajevo and East Sarajevo) located in the field of
Sarajevo (Sarajevsko polje) and parts of these cities in the surrounding area (the rest of the region). Then, between the Sarajevo-Romanija region and other regions. Lastly, between Bosnia
on one hand and Serbia and Montenegro on the other.
The methods used in this study were observation, unstructured and structured interviews, participant observation and survey on the demographic and socio-economic profiles of the interlocutors, as an indicator of their self-identification. A field diary
was also used, the content of which was mainly related to daily activities and recording important events and informal conversations
with all residents of Mostar and Sarajevo, but also people from other cities, regions and countries, whose interests, life or work were
related to listed cities. Certain statistical data from the 1991 and
2013 censuses in Mostar and Sarajevo were used to gain insight
into the ethnic structure of both cities over two time periods. 330
unstructured (informal) interviews were conducted, of which 121
in Mostar and 209 in Sarajevo (146 in Sarajevo Canton and 63 in
East Sarajevo), in three phases of research (two preliminary and
one main). The main part of the material was obtained through
119 structured (formal) interviews, through which 114 interlocutors were interviewed. Of these, 55 interviews were conducted
in Mostar, 53 in Sarajevo (36 in Sarajevo Canton and 17 in East
Sarajevo) and 11 preliminary in East Sarajevo. Thus, 55 respondents were interviewed in Mostar and 59 in Sarajevo (36 in Sarajevo
Canton and 23 in East Sarajevo), which is a total of 114. While the
first 11 interviews were conducted according to the preliminary
version of the questionnaire, the other 108 interviews were conducted according to the final (main) version of the questionaire.
The significance of this monograph is that it shows how
symbolic and physical borders and boundaries affect the processes of ethnic identification and other collective identifications, such as regional and local. This provides insight into two
case studies in a geographically and culturally close area, which
are viewed and analyzed according to the statements of members of all ethnic communities, which is so far a less researched
topic in Serbian ethnology and anthropology. These are the Bosniak, Serb and Croat ethnic communities, as well as those who
do not identify as members of one of these three communities,
but by accepting regional, local or some other identification.

AB - This paper analyzes the novel Twilight in the Viennese Hallway 2 (Old Boska) (2013) by Darko Markov, a migrant-writer from Vienna. The novel describes the way of life and culturological characteristics of Serbian immigrants in Austria through two generations - the gastarbeiter as the older immigrant stratum of migrant workers in the 1970s and 1980s, and the younger, well-educated people who immigrated in the 1990s, fleeing the wars in the former Yugoslavia and the dire economic situation in Serbia due to inflation and international sanctions. Through the seemingly simple storyline about the marital and romantic problems of the protagonist - a young intellectual from Belgrade who arrived in Vienna in the 1990s, the author constructs a dense narrative network of the main character's various experiences, describing the difficulties of adjusting and coping in a foreign country. The protagonist simultaneously comes up against two worlds with different value systems - on the one hand, that of the gastarbeiter, his compatriots, whose way of life, attitudes and behaviors he often finds strange and unacceptable, sometimes even irrational, and on the other hand, the prejudices, intolerance and lack of understanding exhibited by Austrians not only towards him but also towards other immigrants. His path crossing that of various other characters, the protagonist himself undergoes changes in his search for meaning and for his place in a foreign land. In his description of characters and their actions Darko Markov uses the literary technique of realism, relying to a great extent, by his own admission, on real-life persons and events. His mimetic narrative technique can thus be characterized as faction - a blend of fiction and facts, enriched with numerous ethnographic descriptions of the traits, behavior, appearance, speech and value system of the gastarbeiter and other migrants in the Austrian capital. In that sense Markov's novel belongs to the genre of ethnographic prose as it abounds in anthropologically and ethnologically relevant themes and motifs. In a wider sense, the novel belongs to migrant literature defined in terms of the theme, characters and content relating to the life of migrants, and, secondly, the author who is himself an immigrant. The paper first provides a literary-ethographic analysis through the structural elements of its composition - the plot, the characters (attributes, actions and motivation), the narrative time frame and the space that Serbian immigrants in Vienna inhabit and move around in. It then proceeds to analyze through anthropological interpretation some of the novel' motifs and themes, specifically, the problems of ethnic prejudice, integration into the host society, the marginal position of immigrants through two types of marginalization - exterior marginalization in the form of their socio-economic status, and interior marginalization through exoticization and stigmatization, and also the question of language as an important ethnic and cultural marker.

abstract = "This paper analyzes the novel Twilight in the Viennese Hallway 2 (Old Boska) (2013) by Darko Markov, a migrant-writer from Vienna. It then proceeds to analyze through anthropological interpretation some of the novel' motifs and themes, specifically, the problems of ethnic prejudice, integration into the host society, the marginal position of immigrants through two types of marginalization - exterior marginalization in the form of their socio-economic status, and interior marginalization through exoticization and stigmatization, and also the question of language as an important ethnic and cultural marker.",

AB - The paper analyzes through different historical periods in Indonesia the political instrumentalization of three prophetic narratives based on the prophecies of the medieval Javanese king Jayabaya, and looks at the ways in which millenniarist organizations and political activists have used the myths of the Savior and the Golden Age to achieve their own goals. The form of prophetic narratives has proved extremely productive in the process of channeling dissatisfaction and mobilizing for the purpose of political activism, and their interpretation does not only yield a clearer picture of the complex political situation and historical events, but also, through the actions of influential individuals, it provides insight into a number of other aspects of local culture, such as the forming of religious syncretism, the division of power in society or the cultural perception of time. The paper seeks to show that these prophecies do not aim to foretell future events, but rather serve as a means of ensuring the legitimacy of individuals in political struggles in the present time.

AB - This paper is the result of work on the project "A Study of Awareness and Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage Among Young People in Serbia and the Diaspora" carried out in 2019. In view of the UNESCO recommendations that young people should be educated about the importance of cultural heritage as they are the key population in the process of its further preservation, the project was conceived with the aim of conducting a survey on the awareness of young people in Serbia and the diaspora of elements of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) protected in the National Register of ICH of the Republic of Serbia. A target group for the study was selected using the technique of nonprobability sampling, composed of a convenience sample of young people who are members of cultural societies in Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Uzice, Kraljevo and Nis, and also of third-generation Serbian immigrants in Vienna, Paris and Calgary who are members of Serbian cultural societies in these cities. Taking into account the fact that in cultural societies certain elements of ICH are practiced and learned, the hypothesis was that the target group would serve as a good indicator of the degree of awareness of protected elements of ICH on the national list, as most protected elements constitute rare customs. Related to this is the fundamental analytical question, namely, who does the ICH National List serve and who should be aware of the protected rare elements of intangible cultural heritage, to what degree and why. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with open-ended questions, and the data thus collected were consequently supplemented through interviews. Ten elements were selected from the ICH National List. 66 completed questionnaires were collected, 33 from Serbia and 33 from the diaspora. An analysis of the replies suggests that the degree of awareness among young people of ICH is relatively low.

This paper looks at the (auto)biography and literary work of an Australian writer of Serbian descent, B. Wongar/Sreten Božić, viewed from the perspective of ethnology and anthropology. His work is well known to local scholars of lit-erary and cultural studies: for them, Wongar’s complex and polysemous oeuvre has long since become a vibrant topic of interpretation and dialogue. An attempt is made here to show how and why this prolific, award-winning and world-re-
GORDANA GORUNOVIĆ238Issues in Ethnology and Anthropology, n. s. Vol. 15 Is. 1 (2020)nowned author has become a controversial phenomenon in Australian literature. Such a concise retrospective is needed so that readers outside the humanities can gain at least partial insight. The main aim is to highlight those topics in Wong-ar’s fiction and documentary writing that are important from the standpoint of sociocultural anthropology and anthropology of literature: the characteristics of the migrant position and experiences of the dissident writer as a social actor, and the ethnographic-folkloric motivation of the writer’s oeuvre.

Inbetween the Worlds - Gastarbeiter Novel Taxi Driver of Munich: An Anthropological Analysis

AB - From the perspective of the anthropology of migrations and literature, the paper analyzes The Taxi Driver of Munchen, a novel with autobiographical elements by the Croatian author and gastarbeiter Romano Mrkic. After outlining the basic genre characteristics of "migrant literature" and the so-called gastarbeiter novel, the paper proceeds to analyze the dominant themes and motifs in the novel The Taxi Driver of Munchen. This work, written in the tradition of realist narration, deals with the immediate experience of migranthood and represents a prototype of the first-generation gastarbeiter novel. It is narrated from the perspective of a "guest worker" in Germany - through the character of the protagonist, the taxi driver Marko Mandic, Romano Mrkic writes about himself and his immigrant experience, about important Others and the complex modalities of migrant identity and (non)bclonging. In addition to depicting the everyday experience of the gastarbeiter in Germany and their struggle to integrate into a new and different social environment, and describing the native population's ethnic prejudice and stereotypes in relation to the guest workers, Mrkic speaks from an insider perspective of "Yugo-Germans'" "adversities" of identity. His characters remain perpetually stuck between "two worlds", between "here" and "there", and between the past and the present, while the "myth of return" expressed through an overemphatic nostalgia for the homeland is the foundation of Mrkio's narrative. Through a thematic analysis of the novel, the paper explores the ideas of integration and assimilation of guest workers, as well as the cultural meanings that the author assigns to these processes.

Through a thematic analysis of the novel, the paper explores the ideas of integration and assimilation of guest workers, as well as the cultural meanings that the author assigns to these processes.",

"We All Carry Inside Us Many Identities, a Multitude of These Selves of Ours": Anthropological Analysis of Bekim Sejranovic's Novel The Diary of a Nomad

AB - This paper offers an anthropological analysis of Bekim Sejranovie's last novel, The Diary of a Nomad, approaching it as the ethnography of the novelist's own migrant experience. The goal of the paper is, on the one hand, to answer the question how, in the process of constant movement between cultural boundaries, the identity of the author himself is being constructed and reconstructed, and how it is being shaped through the very process of writing. On the other hand, the paper looks at how the author imagines Norway, and thus potentially participates in the way in which a region is imagined in the context in which the reception of the novel takes place. Finally, it sheds light on the reasons why the author feels like a stranger in his "new/Scandinavian homeland", even though he has spent more than twenty years there and has Norwegian citizenship, how he perceives himself as being externally categorized as a stranger, why he self-identifies relationally as a non-Norwegian, and also why he strategically self-identifies as a Norwegian when this particular self-identification is to serve as a basis for building legitimacy for his criticism of Norwegian society.

Biće proučeni svi aspekti (nivoi i vrste) identiteta u odnosu na neformalnu teritorijalnu podelu grada u slučaju Mostara, odnosno formalnu teritorijalnu podelu grada u slučaju Sarajeva. Pored toga, biće istražene i razlike unutar proučavanih grupa, u oba grada.
AB - The subject of this research will be the identity building process in Mostar and Sarajevo as (un)officially and (in)formally divided cities. The partition of the two cities is related to events during the war and postwar periods of 1992-1995, as this is an on-going polemic both academically as well as a public opinion ever since. All aspects of the identity will be analyzed in regards to the unofficial territorial division of Mostar, as well as the official territorial division of Sarajevo. In addition, differences amongst the explored ethnic groups within the two cities will be researched. This comparative analysis will endeavor to show how the population of these cities view the idea of borders, and in what way the symbolism of these borders as well as the physical line create a (new) ethnic, religious, national, regional and local identity. The comparative frame will enable a better understanding of the intragroup relations of the examined populations, i.e. the inner symbolic boundaries amongst the same ethnic groups, as well as the population of a region, apropos of the urban entity. The purpose of this research is to determine if and in which way, the population of the unofficially divided city of Mostar constructs its cultural identity (national, regional and local) in regards to the population of the officially divided city of Sarajevo, via different attitudes, thoughts and practices connected to the informal separation of the urban entity. Therefore, how the informal (symbolic) and formal (legal) division of the urban territory influences communication and interaction amongst the ethnic groups. The infrastructure of this research is collected during fieldwork from October 2017 to January 2019. In this research, the analysis and interpretation of these collected materials has been conducted, inducing particular examples from literature, media as well as usage of certain statistic data

AB - The fieldwork conducted in Belgrade during the summer and autumn of 2017 was oriented towards jazz musicians, and their strategies of action, in gist, implied playing other popular music genres through compromise – function work. Such business tactics are a consequence of jazz musicians’ ever-insecure position, but strategic goals have changed over time with the nature of that insecurity. Going beyond the genre boundary first became a means of securing the profession itself after WWII due to (foreign-)political and ideological influences, whereas from the 1960s to date, it has been the economic guaranty of the survival of many jazz musicians. Playing folk music is one of the observed strategies analysed through a broader sociopolitical, socioeconomic. and professional context.

AB - This paper will strive to present and perceive some of the current political,
institutional, regional and other intragroup divisions between the Serbs and the Serb
community in the area of the City of East Sarajevo, after the Civil war in Bosnia and
Herzegovina 1992–1995. The foundation and development of Serbian Sarajevo, ie. East
Sarajevo during and after the conflict, is examined along with the general geographical,
economic, cultural and political context of that city. Data on the intragroup divisions of
Serbs in this part of the Republic of Srpska (also called Serb Republic) and Bosnia and
Herzegovina, was obtained on the basis of the fieldwork research conducted between
the second half of October and the end of December 2017, as well as from mid-March
to mid-May 2018. Narratives about the politics were collected through six formal and
over fifty informal interviews with respondents on the current political situation and
previous political developments, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the wider scale, as
well as in East Sarajevo, on a narrower scale. Different views of the political processes
and phenomena, in relation to the mainstream, have led to a gap between what has
become known in the public as „the eastern and the western part of the Republic of
Srpska“. The inhabitants of East Sarajevo with whom I lived, talked and participated in
their everyday life, consider their region as being neglected politically, economically,
and culturally. Separation among the Serbian community is not just caused by political
but also institutional divisions, intertwined with each other, while regional divisions are
built on the basis of cultural stereotypes about people from a particular area.

to mid-May 2018.
Separation among the Serbian community is not just caused by political
but also institutional divisions, intertwined with each other, while regional divisions are
built on the basis of cultural stereotypes about people from a particular area.",

AB - Since the creation of football fan groups, music and fan practices have been inseparably linked everywhere in the world. This paper will highlight the importance of punk music and other content that personify this specific urban subculture for a particular group of Gravediggers, respectively fans of JSD Partizan. The research was inspired by the appearance of punk rock band Grupa JNA (JNA Group), whose music is solely dedicated to Partizan and Gravediggers, but also to the already developed tradition of fanzine making and graffiti drawing that has flourished over the past few years, thanks primarily to the multimedia group Grobarski Trash Romanticism. We will try to find an answer to how punk as an idea and practice fits into the abstract idea of Partizan as something that so tightly connects a large number of individuals and again among them evokes an unfamiliar "sublime emotion", unknown to non-fans.

AB - Empathy usage in anthropological research of emotions is connected with the universalistic approach to this phenomenon. The approach is based on the biological assumption that emotions are primarily bodily feelings, internal and personal conditions of individuals, that can be also identified by the physiologically based human ability to understand - empathy. Some representatives of the cultural approach to emotions have thrown away the empathy, understood and applied in such a way. However, variance in the anthropological understandings of both concepts can be distinguished between these two extremes. In the field of anthropology that is interested in the emotional lives of people, the intention of presenting some research results related to the concept of empathy is to provide insight into some of the key conceptions of this phenomenon, and to indicate their dependence on concrete approaches to the concept of emotion. The intention in this field as well is to offer a partial insight into the observed variance in the understandings concerning the empathy usage, the variance which points to the exceptionally alive but also unstable anthropological thought about this concept.

AB - This paper shows preliminary results from an ethnographic study of the modern musical phenomena that gathers "authors from the Serbian scene", who's creations are based on the mixture of the newly composed folk music and turbo-folk, along with various alternative music genres and styles. The research is conducted through the technique of semi-structured interviews with the artists and event organizers, as well as attending different events (concerts, compilation promotion, festivals Zasram and FESRAM), and using written and audiovisual materials that are accessible on the Internet. One of the main aims of this study is to designate the form of "turbotronik" phenomena in the context of music genre and scene, as well as recognizing its local characteristics. Through the analysis of different processes that influence the formatting of a specific music genre (name of the genre, the narrative on genre origin, visual identity, specific sound, the thematic of the songs and characteristics of the genre's public) "turbotronik" is being observed as sort of a "genre in the making".

"Turbo-folk Rocks!": New Readings of Turbo-folk

AB - The subject of this paper is the ethnographic mapping of the origins of the new alternative scene, based on turbo-folk. Mainly located in Belgrade, this alternative scene has been swindling, over the last couple of years, as the circle of artists ('Mangulica FM, Lenhart Tapes, Mega Denke, Gianni Druid, Bombe Devedesetih and others), who freely combine turbo-folk genre with other music forms (electronic music, rap and others) to fulfill modern audience needs. In this research, we will rely on the standpoint that the term "turbo-folk" is not only a tool for music genre's description, but also a value connotated "floating signifier", which pumps its content from the certain community's symbolic repertoire. Turbo-folk showed its symbolic strength in the academic and non-academic discourse, as a tool for cultural switching on/switching off during the last decade of the twentieth century and the first decade of the twenty-first century, when it was instrumentalised as the constitutive otherness of "urban" ("elite", "civilised", "educated", "cosmopolitan") population. The basic assumption of this paper is that the disagreement about classifications, the focus of which is turbo-folk, is rehabilitated, recontextualized and revaluated. In this study, we will re-examine the hypothesis saying that the new alternative scene, which is the subject of this research, endeavours to instrumentalise turbo-folk as an arbor of "urban elite's" cultural critique, its authority and legitimacy of its classification categories.

Migrant Poetry - Anthropological Analysis on the Collection of Poems by Drago Trumbetas

AB - The subject of this paper is a thematic analysis of a bilingual collection of poems by Drago Trumbetas entitled "Poems of guest-workers" ("Gastarbeiter-Gedichte"). The poems in this collection were written during his stay in FR Germany from 1969 to 1980. Drago Trumbetas (1937-2018) was a versatile Croatian self-taught artist and a member of the first wave of Yugoslav economic migrants who went to "temporary" work in the developed countries of Western Europe in the 1960s. During his stay in FR Germany, Trumbetas worked various low paid physical jobs and his artistic expression was strongly imbued with personal migrant experiences. Almost all artistic work of Trumbetas (series of drawings, novels, plays and poetry) is devoted to depicting the life of Yugoslav gastarbeiters. After determining the prevailing topics on the collection of poems, an analysis of their meaning will be undertaken through the anthropological, sociological and historical literature on the phenomenon of "temporary workers abroad". Poetry of Trumbetas has been interpreted in the broader context of the "migrant poetry" development in FR Germany since the 1970s. Particular attention will be paid to analyzing the ways of poetic self-representation of migrant workers, the ways of articulating identity through poetry in a new and different cultural and social environment respectively. The problem of using literary texts written in the first person, which are therefore shaped by the subjective aspirations of individual authors, as relevant sources in ethnological and anthropological studies of migration is problematized in this paper.

Reception of Natalie's Ramonda, Armistice Day Symbol in Serbia

AB - Natalie's Ramonda, a symbol of Armistice Day - November 11 in Serbia, is a new memorial symbol constructed and promoted by politicians in 2012. The Armistice Day was celebrated then as a national holiday in Serbia. The reception of this symbol has been explored over a five-year period, both in a public discourse and on a representative sample of first year students at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. In public discourse, as well as among students of the Faculty of Philosophy, Natalie's Ramonda is perceived as an emblem, a badge, and most often as a symbol. It was seen as an emblem on the lapel of public and media figures, inaccessible to broad commercial promotion and sales. In public discourse and among students at the Faculty of Philosophy, Natalie's Ramonda was perceived in several answers as a medal, and is also recognized as a flower that symbolizes the suffering of the Serbian people in World War One; symbol of the nation's rebirth - the flower phoenix, as a mark of peace and freedom. As a newly constructed symbol of the Armistice Day in Serbia, for the past seven years, Natalie's Ramonda has been a mediator in the public culture of remembrance and in the ongoing process, by becoming a part of cultural memory.

AB - The paper seeks to show that criticisms directed at the expense of the concept of culture from the sixties, and especially the eighties of the twentieth century, only but re-actualized the dispute present in the discipline at least from the end of the second decade of the twentieth century between two sides. On the one hand, we have those anthropologists who perceived culture as (a) homogeneous, static, closed, holistic, sui generis system that, in the ontological sense, "exists" outside and above individuals, and determines their thinking and actions by anticipating them, and which "represents" in a monographic study, and in a methodological sense, explains the totality of life, beliefs and behavior of its members. On the other hand, there are anthropologists who perceived culture as (b) in the ontological sense "nonexistent", fragmentary, heterogeneous, variable set of actions of numerous individuals struggling to create, interpret or legitimize its rules, and whose disagreements, in a methodological sense, are taken as the starting point of the culture's explanation, understood as an aggregate of numerous individuals' work and their unintended consequences. The aim of the paper is to contextualize the Individualism-Holism Dispute into the Enlightenment and Counter-Enlightenment dispute, and answer the question why rationalists, agents of transcultural commensurability and advocates of universally applicable, cosmopolitan anthropological science, when writing "against culture," refer to the defense of Enlightenment from Counter-Enlightenment.

AB - Specific populations with fluid identities are subject to external construction of their particularity and rarely expose their own commitments in public arena. Their identity-related feelings and loyalties are built up in correlation of personal intimacy, cultural intimacy and various inputs stemming from the sphere of identity. Varieties of storytelling play significant role in displaying identity-related intimacy and are used in elaboration of identity-inputs that are externally served to such populations. Based on superficial, genristic storytelling, interplay of various flaws of consciousness enables for the playful mixture of emotional precepts. Two types of storytelling on particularity of guest workers (gastarbeiter) are examined, in order to explore their formative potential and transformation through time. Literary narrative, as represented in the novel by Darko Markov Twilight in Viennese Hallway (Sumrak u Beckom haustoru), and publicist narrative, as represented in The World in Shadows (Svijet u sjeni), a book by Nenad Popovic, are also interpreted as valuable sources for the understanding of identity troubles, especially as sources of representation of guest workers as living in-between geographical and social worlds.

U istraživanju amaterske migrantske trupe "Nesvrstani diletanti" koristili smo metode posmatranja, neformalnih razgovora, intervjua i upitnika, uz upotrebu informacija dostupnih na veb-sajtu i fejsbuk profilu Darka Markova.
AB - In the last twenty years, several cultural and educational organizations developed amongst the Serbian migrants in Vienna, and they engage in presenting modern day Serbian culture and the lives of migrants in a different light and with a different approach than some other clubs of our former migrants. The goal we have set with this study is to present just one segment of these activities, and those are the amateur theater plays that our migrants take part in playing themselves and about themselves. After a short overview of the general characteristics of migrant theater troupes, and after giving several vivid examples of those troupes in Europe, we have set our sights on the group "Non-Aligned Dilatants" which was founded by Darko Markov, Serbian writer, amateur actor and director, who surrounds himself with Serbian migrants and together with them makes all sorts of shows in which they comically portray the life, work and day to day activities of our migrants in Vienna. In our study of the "Non-Aligned Dilatants" we have used the methods of observation, informal conversation, interview and questioners, along with the information available on the website and Facebook page of Darko Markov. In the conclusion of the study, we have deliberated the future of migrant theater troupes through the following aspects: problems with migrant enthusiasm and the energy needed to hold the troupes together for extended periods of time, secondly - to find the appropriate finances, thirdly - question of the content of plays regarding migrant's and post-migrant's destiny, and finally the problem of the language used in plays (i.e. migrant's native or the language of the immigrant country).

AB - In this paper I will try to present and elaborate media critical reviews
regarding ethnic division of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cities, namely
Sarajevo and Mostar. These are mainly videos of various international
and Bosnian-Herzegovinian electronic media, whose production is in
BCS languages, which monitor the situation in these two cities and speak
“against” ethnic division, advocating for a unitary and civic Bosnia and
Herzegovina. These media create a certain picture of how complicated
the citizens’ daily life is in relation to the lines of division. The paper aims
to show how these critical reviews are generated via the media, through
the analysis of twenty videos from the YouTube website and several other
web addresses. At issue are thirteen documentaries from two series, as
well as seven TV reports.

Autobiografija i etnografija u Radinovoj antropologiji: "Crashing Thunder" kao saradnička prozna fikcija i autobiografski narativ o verskom preobraćenju

AB - Knjiga Crashing Thunder: The Autobiography of an American Indian je zasigurno najpopularnije i verovatno najkontroverznije delo Pola Radina. Po vremenu
nastanka, ona spada u boasovsku antropologiju i konvencionalno se svrstava u pravac
kultura i ličnost. U doba poststrukturalizma i postmodernizma, kritičke analize izazivaju krizu poverenja u sam tekst i autoritet antropologa kao njegovog priređivača. Novi
činovi čitanja dovode u sumnju antropološka i književno-naučna shvatanja autobiografije Crashing Thunder-a kao autentičnog etnografskog dokumenta, lične ispovesti
ili religijskog narativa, otkrivajući i naglašavajući implicitna, simbolička i performativna značenja prirođena nativnom tekstu i njegovom kulturnom zaleđu. U ovom ogledu
verskoj konverziji i ličnoj ispovesti.
svedočanstvu informanta i subjektivnog aktera, pokaže mikro-aspekte proučavanog
XX vek; i obeležjima autobiografske strategije nativnog pisca i naratora.

surely the most popular and likely the most controversial work of Paul Radin. Chronologically, it belongs to Boasian anthropology and is conventionally placed in the trend
of culture and personality. In the times of post-structuralism and post-modernism,
critical analyses cause a crisis of trust in the mere text and authority of an anthropologist as its author-editor. New acts of reading cause suspicion in anthropological
and literary-scientific understanding of the autobiography of Crashing Thunder as an
authentic ethnographic document, personal testimony or religious narrative, while revealing and highlighting implicit, symbolic and performative meanings inherent to the
native text and its cultural background. In this experiment, the starting point is the
experience of the work and text in the reception of an anthropological reader as a narrative about religious conversion and personal testimony. Arguments which support
the interpretation of a meaning comprehended in this manner are found in the ethnographic-anthropological relevance of Peyote’s religion as a topic in Radin’s Winnebago
opus; a rather likely, but not explicitly formulated idea of the anthropologist to display
on a concrete example-case, i.e. life historical testimony of the informant and subjective actor the micro-aspects of the inspected process, cultural and religious changes in
Winnebago communities at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century; and features of the
autobiographic strategy of the native writer and narrator.

abstract = "Knjiga Crashing Thunder: The Autobiography of an American Indian je zasigurno najpopularnije i verovatno najkontroverznije delo Pola Radina. Po vremenu
nastanka, ona spada u boasovsku antropologiju i konvencionalno se svrstava u pravac
kultura i ličnost. U doba poststrukturalizma i postmodernizma, kritičke analize izazivaju krizu poverenja u sam tekst i autoritet antropologa kao njegovog priređivača. Novi
činovi čitanja dovode u sumnju antropološka i književno-naučna shvatanja autobiografije Crashing Thunder-a kao autentičnog etnografskog dokumenta, lične ispovesti
ili religijskog narativa, otkrivajući i naglašavajući implicitna, simbolička i performativna značenja prirođena nativnom tekstu i njegovom kulturnom zaleđu. U ovom ogledu
verskoj konverziji i ličnoj ispovesti.
svedočanstvu informanta i subjektivnog aktera, pokaže mikro-aspekte proučavanog
XX vek; i obeležjima autobiografske strategije nativnog pisca i naratora., The book "Crashing Thunder: The Autobiography of an American Indian" is

AB - In this paper, through a critical review of the theoretical postulates on the so-called "Shiny third place", I will try to point to the correlation and interdependence of spatial behavior, music, identity and alcohol consumption. I regard these terms as social categories that have emerged, formed in the constant process of transformation, and as such, the subject of anthropological analysis. Starting from the hypothesis that spatial behaviors are a form of identity expression within the framework of social imaginarium, and that identities are multilayered, fragmentary and subject to manipulation, one might ask how today to define a, tavern culture" (culture of a kafana) that once seemed so clear and homogeneous. Through the method of participant observation and the method of in-depth interviews in my work, I will try to answer the following research questions: how to define contemporary tavern culture? Is music the basis for the formation of a tavern culture, and alcohol consumption is a necessary follower and what are its social implications? Through the syntagma Identity Forum, a new theoretical framework will be offered for the consideration of (post) modern taverns and the dissolution of its (established) identity.
