Stanje osnovnih prava čoveka u Jugoslaviji - sociološka perspektiva

Abstract

The main purpose of the article is to mark the difference between the social meaning of human rights in Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia after the decay of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia and before the break out of the civil war in June 1991, and the social meaning of human rights in (internationally unrecognized) Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (constitued in 1992). In the first period, mentioned above, human rights protected the processes of democratization of all social spheres (their aim was to eliminate the danger of democratic suppression of democracy) and helped in efforts to integrate Yugoslavia in Europe. In contradistinctions to this, the social role of human rights in Federal Republic of Yugoslavia today is to provide the dignity and civilizational respect of the new state (as well as its place in international society) and to serve as a main barrier to the dangers of dictatorship and civil war among the citizens of the new Yugoslavia. Results of sociological analysis of the state of human rights in Federal Republic of Yugoslavia today prove that all human rights constitutionally provided, are seriously endangered. The next step towards their violation would be, practically, the unrestricted dictatorship.
