'Queer inclusion' in schools: Concept and controversy
Abstract
U Srbiji se, u poslednje vreme, pojavljuju zahtevi da se uvede školska kvir inkluzija. U ovom članku određujem pojam 'kvir inkluzija', iznosim pojedina dosadašnja iskustva na tom polju u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama i Velikoj Britaniji i razmatram razloge koji se uobičajeno navode 'za' kvir inkluziju i 'protiv' nje. Ukazujem da efekti školske kvir inkluzije nikako nisu samo pozitivni, da postoje brojni konceptualni problemi, kao i da bi, možda, trebalo biti oprezniji u vezi sa kampanjom da se kvir inkluzija uvede u školski sistem Srbije.
Recently, there have arisen some requirements for 'queer inclusion' in schools in Serbia. This article defines the term 'queer inclusion', presents some experiences in this field in the United States and Britain, and considers the reasons commonly given as 'pros and cons' of queer inclusion. The concluding part argues that effects of queer inclusion in schools are not only positive, that there are many conceptual problems with it, and that perhaps we ought to be much more careful with the campaign for introduction of queer inclusion in the school system in Serbia.
