A prolusion on the history of the text of Dušan’s Code

Abstract

Based on the analysis of the manuscript tradition behind Dušan’s legislation, this prolusion offers arguments in favor of including legal texts copied with Dušan’s Code into a textological examination which aims to reconstruct the history of the Code’s text (the genealogy of its manuscripts) and its original recension. The analysis also includes manuscripts belonging to the so-called incomplete Dušan’s legislation, which contains copies of the accompanying texts without Dušan’s Code itself.
