Abstract
The site Selo is situated on the left bank of the river Sava, in the village Boljevci, near Zemun. An area of about 300 square meters was explored. The culture layer 1,5-1,0 meters thick, contained Neolithic, Eneolithic and medieval deposits. An Eneolithic stratum contained two habitation horizons Kostolac and Vučedol culture. Vučedol habitation horizon contained remains of bad preserved houses built above ground and hearts. This horizon was rich in portable archaeological finds. The pottery was presented by various finds of biconical and conical bowls decorated with incising, furrowing (Furchenstich), and rarely carving. The decoration consists of bands filled with net-shaped incisions or zigzag lines. Deep biconical bowls are usually decorated with incised rossets. The most of these motives are encrusted. On the basis of pottery shapes and ornamental systems it might be said that Vučedol horizon belongs to the Early or Preclassical phase (Vučedol A) according to S. Dimitrijević. The ...fact that the most of the pottery shapes and ornamental techiques appeared already during Kostolac culture confirms the theories that the genesis of Vučedol culture is closely connected with Kostolac culture.
