Kosmološki dokaz i aktualna beskonačnost
Cosmological arguments and the actual infinity
The cosmological arguments for the existence of God can be, roughly, divided into two types: those with premises denying the possibility of the infinite regress of causes, and those who do not deny that possibility. I interpret and summarize St. Thomas Aquinas' arguments as belonging to the first kind. On the other hand, Leibnizian arguments, relying on the principle of sufficient reason, allow the infinite regress of causes. Furthermore, Aquinas' arguments are construed here as based on the rejection of the atemporal infinite regress. However, the so-called kalam arguments that object to the infinite temporal series of causes are preferred in this text. I claim that the only way for the defenders of the cosmological arguments to remain within the scope of those arguments is to reject the possibility of actual infinites.
