The chapter focuses on early childhood workforce in Serbia as a policy issue, addressing the matters of early childhood education and care (ECEC) teachers’ profession, their initial and ongoing education, other professionals in preschool institutions as well as work conditions. Challenges within the context as well as possible future developments are addressed. The chapter shows the importance of future research on the issue of ECEC teachers’ education, work conditions and job prospects as the foundation for ECEC policy on early childhood workforce in Serbia onwards.
