Епитимијни номоканон из цркве Светог арханђела Михаила у селу Клинци (Луштица)

Abstract

On the occasion of visiting the churches in the area of Herceg Novi 1986, for the purpose of identification and inventory of the manuscripts and old printed books, in the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in village Klinci, on the Luštica Peninsula an incomplete manuscript of penitential nomocanon was discovered. The manuscript was conserved in the National Library of Serbia. It comprises 91 sheet the beginning, the end and several sheets in the middle are missing. It contains the text of an earlier penitential nomocanon (known in the science as Paul’s or Nomocanon attached to the Big Ritual Book, two Communion Prayers and Akathist Service to the sweetest name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sounding comparison of the Luštica transcription with the samples of 50 transcriptions of the early penitential nomocanon, proves that this transcription, although in many elements identical to the majority of the other transcriptions, is an exemplar of that Serbian legal relic worth attention. Certain of its textual and linguistic characteristics are classified as distinctive, according to the number of modest transcriptions, and according to redaction traits partly alike to the unique transcription of Hil. 301, and also partly like the majority of other transcriptions, yet, regarding the redaction and lexical characteristics of the Communion Prayer, as well the Service to Akathist to the name of Jesus Christ distinguish it as the only of the kind. Due to the aforementioned characteristics the almost unknown transcription from the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in village Klinci must be indispensable in textual examination of the early penitential nomocanon.
