Urgency and alliances of convenience
Апстракт
Abstract:
Year 2020 caption: The seemingly unlimited possibilities of communication “meet” the physical confinement and reduction of mobility.
One impact of this oxymoron is an altered comprehension of the present time. The present is equaled to urgency – urgency of supplying, of limits-adjusting, of communicating and of bettering the later-to-be positions. Accompanied by senses of solidarity and hospitality, the sense of needed alliance resonated loud this time around. Alliance is by no means a product of pandemic, or limited to the starts and durations of social movements; it is a by-product of uncertainty, precariousness and the staying-afloat imperative. However, what became bare is its nature of convenience. By critically reflecting on my own researcher’s practice I am puzzled with the questions of what do the principles of convenience bring and take from the process of aligned action(s). Do we self-censor on important issues in order to keep the sense of belonging? Do we jump o...n the train of semi-understanding only to not be left alone in the terrifying realm of limitless possibilities; and most importantly, where does the convenience end?
