Средњовековни бронзани топузи са територије Сврљига

Abstract

У овом раду биће приказано оружје за ударање пронађено на територији општине Сврљиг. Реч је о две бронзане главе топуза, које представљају случајне налазе. Услед непостојања археолошког контекста, њихово тумачење се пре свега базира на типолошкој анализи и коришћењу аналогија са територије наше земље, али и окружења, како би се одредило време њихове употребе.

This paper will present striking weapons discovered on the territory of Svrljig municipality. Those are two bronze mace heads which are chance finds. On Beloinjske tepsije site, located on Svrljig mountains, one casted example was found. On this piece, outer side has four larger pyramidal protrusions, as well as eight smaller triangular protrusions. The edge of the piece has a shoulder that enabled better fixing. Height of mace head is 3.5 cm, width of the base 2.5 cm, while the width of the protrusions is 5.5 cm. Second piece, almost identical, comes from Svrljig grad site. Total length of this example is 3 cm, diameter of bigger shaft is 2.7 cm, and 2.2 cm for the diameter of smaller shaft. Due to nonexistent archaeological context of these artifacts, the interpretation will primarily be based on typological analysis in order to find proper analogies on the territory of our country and surrounding areas, and determine the period of their use. This type of mace heads can be classified into type IV, based on typology by Kirpičnikov and Kovacs. Similar examples of mace heads, but primarily made out of iron can be found in museums throughout Serbia. Mentioned maces are dated in a very wide range, i.e. period from the 12th to 15th century AD.
