School Social Behavior of Adolescents with Different Status among Peers

Апстракт
The aim of this study was to compare social competence and antisocial behavior of adolescents with different status among peers. Peer status of 222 high school students was determined by sociometric procedure, while their social behavior was rated by their teachers on the SSBS-2 (Merrell, 2002). Results show that students with high, middle and low peer status differ in scores of social competence and antisocial behavior: adolescents with high peer status receive higher teacher ratings on Peer Relations and Self-Management, and lower on Impulsive, Aggressive and Irritable behavior subscales. Results also indicate that patterns of social behavior related to peer status appear to be significantly different for girls and boys.
