AB - Earlier research suggested that militant extremists could have certain aspects of psychopathic and psychotic characteristics. Relying on these studies, we investigated whether the Militant Extremist Mind-Set (MEM) could be explained by psychopathy, sadism, and Disintegration (psychosis proneness), as subclinical manifestations of amoral, antisocial, and psychotic-like traits. In Study 1 (306 undergraduate students), it was shown that sadistic and psychopathic tendencies were related to Proviolence (advocating violence as a means for achieving a goal): psychopathic and disintegrative tendencies were associated to the Vile World (belief in a world as a corrupted and vile place), while Disintegration was the best predictor of Divine Power (relying on supernatural forces as a rationale for extremist acts). In Study 2 (147 male convicts), these relations were largely replicated and broadened by including implicit emotional associations to violence in the study design. Thus, white Proviolence was found to be related to a weakened negative emotional reaction to violent pictures, Vile World was found to be associated with stronger negative emotions as a response to violence. Furthermore, Proviolence was the only MEM factor clearly differentiating the sample of convicts from male students who participated in Study 1. Results help extend current understanding about personal characteristics related to militant extremism.

AB - Even today it is evident that number of migrants during the last years has struck us. Although good legal regulation of asylum seekers' position, rights, procedures and obligations exists in Serbia, situation is very different in practice. In other words, these problems can not be approached primarily as security issues of "law and order" but as complex problem that requires socio-psychological and culturaleducational support without which there is no successful integration or socialization. Police, armed forces, high walls and barbwire can not stop migrants or resolve newly-formed problems. After crossing borders and borders and traveling for a long time, sometimes more than a year, often exhausted and in poor health and hygienic condition, migrants are often disoriented and do not know that they are stuck in Serbia on their road of salvation. In that difficult situation between hope and fear they are preoccupied with more urgent problems then education and learning. Although Serbia is not their desired destination many of them wait for a long time to resolve their fate or to organize their trip to European Union where learning, whether formal or informal, may be purposeful and applicable. The answer to the question what the purpose of migrants' learning is may be different: learning and education are long-life processes and they become necessity for modern human even when he is on migrants' road; adaptation to life conditions in new situation; acquisition of communication skills etc. Are there organized education and learning on the migrants' road and how much can they be used as support to adult migrants are the questions to which we will dedicate the following lines and easily show to ourselves and to readers that we write about something that is even not known that is unknown.

AB - Bearing in mind the specific nature of education, training and upskilling of prisoners during their prison term, and the ambivalent relationship that the profession and the science have towards that kind of practice, in this article we have tried to answer the following questions by analyzing the data from the Administration for Enforcement of Penal Sanctions: who are the educators, and what is the initial education of staff employed in services providing qualification and employment training practice. We have presented here the data on professional development and knowledge and skills that the staff lack in working with prisoners, based on the results of research conducted in 2016 on a convenience sample (51 employees in these two offices in PCF Požarevac, Zabela and Sremska Mitrovica). The analyzed data have confirmed what we already know, that the significant number of employees in Serbian prisons do not have professional competence for working with prisoners based on their initial education (history teachers, teachers of Marxism, defense and protection teachers, geography teachers, political scientists, mechanical engineers). It is necessary to organize additional education and/or to engage experts in certain fields to improve the practice and create new programs in order to decrease prisoners' recidivism. Prisoners are entitled to education and training with the aim of successful integration in everyday life and the increase of their chances for employment. Andragogical disciplines should be responsible for planning, organization, realization and evaluation of education and training of prisoners. Only staff equipped with such broad education, including in lifelong, non-formal and informal education and learning, can be useful in organization and practice of resocialization, training and reintegration of prisoners. Educational make-up, that is, professional competences of the large number of staff within the services for prisoners' education and training practice are not in accordance with the specific needs of the prison population they are working with.

AB - Low EI is claimed to be implicated in various maladaptive behaviors, including adolescent delinquency. In this study, we sought to establish whether juvenile delinquents are indeed lower on trait EI compared to their peers from the nonclinical population. Study participants were 45 convicted juvenile offenders (all male, M-age = 16.44) and 54 adolescents from the general population (all male, M-age = 14.24), equaling with respect to years of schooling. All participants completed the Serbian translation of the TEIQue-AF. According to the results of ANCOVAs, with age as the covariate, the delinquent group scored significantly lower on global trait EI, and on three out of its four factors: Emotionality, Well-being, and Self-control. Thus, the delinquents exhibit lower self-efficacy when it comes to perceiving, expressing, and regulating emotions, and are more likely to have a gloomy vision of their present and future. Implications for assessment and possible intervention programs are discussed.

The relations between personality traits and psychopathy as measured by ratings and self-report

AB - The objective of this study was to examine the relations between psychopathy - as assessed by ratings (PCL-R) and by self-report (SRP3) - on one side, and The Five-Factor personality Model - expanded to include the traits Amorality and Disintegration - on the other. Both methods examined four traits of psychopathy: interpersonal, affective, lifestyle and antisocial characteristics. Data were collected on a sample of 112 male convicts. The results show the absence of congruence between the two methods - self-report and rating - in case of interpersonal and affective psychopathic dispositions. This incongruence is also reflected in their relations with personality traits. The self-report measures and the ratings of Lifestyle and Antisocial tendencies are related to amorality, aggressiveness, schizotypy, Neuroticism and impulsivity. However, the ratings of affective and interpersonal style are related to the integrated, organized, and emotionally stable aspects of personality. The results are interpreted in the light of differences between the methods of assessment and in the light of the essential characteristics of the psychopathic phenomena.

abstract = "The objective of this study was to examine the relations between psychopathy - as assessed by ratings (PCL-R) and by self-report (SRP3) - on one side, and The Five-Factor personality Model - expanded to include the traits Amorality and Disintegration - on the other. The results are interpreted in the light of differences between the methods of assessment and in the light of the essential characteristics of the psychopathic phenomena.",

Izlaganje nevidljivih aspekata naučnog rada omogućava dublje razumevanje tog procesa, ali i postavlja nova pitanja o samoj poziciji istraživača i nauke.
AB - This paper is a view to grasp the unknown. It emerged through a dialog of the two authors: One of them is scholar with vast experience and the other one is a PhD Candidate. We analysed research process through the perspective of transformative learning and the concepts of depth psychology. The interior of the research process is accessed by writing autoetnographic narratives in which the author expressed doubts and dilemmas that have emerged and exceeded during the research process. We believe that writing academic paper is a transformative process, and formulating research questions is an entry to liminal phase. Exposure to invisible aspects of work provides a deeper understanding of the process, but also raises new questions about the position of researchers and science.

The problem that societies face is how to prepare inmates in prison environment to successfully integrate into a community upon release from prison. Education could play an important role in the realization of this goal. In this article we will deal with various aspects of education in prison: how the state defines its purpose, what is the current state of implementation of the right to education in some countries of the world and in our country, what are the obstacles in the implementation of education in prisons. One of the main preconditions for the implementation and the success of educational programs in prison is the very motivation of a person to engage in them. We will present the empirical part of the research conducted on a sample of the two Correctional Facilities (Požarevac and Sremska Mitrovica) about the motivation of prisoners for education and their educational needs.

AB - The goal of this study was to explore personality-related determinants of recidivism, with recidivism being defined as a) the number of lawful sentences a person had (criminal legal recidivism), and b) the number of prison sentences pronounced (penal recidivism). The study was carried out in two independent samples: a) convicts from the Correctional Institution of Belgrade - Penitentiary of Padinska Skela (N=113), and b) convicts from the Special Prison Hospital in Belgrade (N =112). The variables of the Five-Factor Model of Personality (Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness and Conscientiousness) were measured, together with two additional basic personality traits: Disintegration (a broad dimension of psychosis-proneness), and Amorality (three factors representing a disposition to amoral forms of behavior). In addition, psychopathy (Manipulative and Antisocial tendencies) - a psychological entity expected to most successfully predict criminal recidivism - was measured as well. The efficiency of prediction of the two criteria of recidivism was assessed separately in each of those two samples. The results revealed differences in the orchestration of predictors depending on the kind of recidivism as the criterion and the severity of offense. The most important predictors of both forms of recidivism in the sample of convicts with lower intensity of criminal behavior were psychopathic traits. However, in the sample of convicts with higher intensity and variety of criminal behavior, the most important predictors of the number of sentences were Antisociality and Amorality Induced by Frustration, while the most important predictors of the number of prison sanctions were Amorality Induced by Brutality and Disintegration.
