"Crkveni vojnici" u srednjovekovnoj Srbiji

AB - The existance of soldiers in monastery or bishopric service was confirmed in numerous
Serbian medieval documents. The very expression "church soldier" was noted in several
monastery charters. Churches and monasteries don't have subordinated noblemen from the group
of highly ranked or medium ranked noblemen. However, there are numerous examples where
the church subjects are lower ranked noblemen, soldiers, small landowners or "pronija" holders.
The needs of church institutions for military class was not big. Yet, each one of the more
important monasteries had its crew which used to protect the very monastery, its squares, roads
and the safety of the property and monk community. The earliest mentioning of church soldiers
are found in the charter of king Milutin for the St. George monastery in Skopje, but their duties
were based on the old laws which used to be applies in the estate of Studenica and Mileševa
monastery.
In the process of forming large church estates, the rulers used to find the estates held
by small noblemen. They were mostly subordinated to monasteries then, and they would owe
their duties to the church master, instead of the ruler. A great number of small noblemen was
mentioned on Banjskа, Dečani and Saint Archangels properties. The charters of Dečani
monastery testify that it had a numerous and well developed military crew, inside of which there
were differentiations and various duties as well. At the head of the whole military crew was
"čelnik," and to his command laymen, military men, guards and semi-military craftsmen were
subordinated. Military horsemen are small noblemen heirs- at least seven families, which were
alternated in the military crew of the fort. Prohor and his men, with ten families were holding
guard, and the maintainance of the monastery fort was given to master Djordjija and his
companions. The monastery of Holy Archangels near Prizren also had a group of small
noblemen at its disposal. This monastery had at its disposal the fortress of Višegrad in which the
military crew in charge of the defense was based. In post Nemanjić era the number of small
noblemen mentioned in monastery charters was smaller. Monastery Ravanica and Resava were
begirded with solid forts like many other towns of that period and they certainly had serious crew
which was under ruler's jurisdiction.

A New Climate for Human Nature? Navigating Social Theory through Postnature, the Anthropocene and Posthumanism

AB - By examining debates on the Anthropocene era ignited by new materialist and posthumanist scholarship, this paper aims to discern how these perspectives can reframe the human-nature nexus. It also considers how various “developmentalist” approaches might assume the role traditionally held by the concept of human nature. The first section highlights concerns raised by posthumanist and neomaterialist scholars about the marginalized status of “nature”, life, and biology within dominant constructivist viewpoints. A central argument posits that notions like “denaturalization” and biopolitics amplify societal dominance over nature, pushing social theory towards an anthropocentric and potentially biologically indeterminate stance. Contrasting this, the second section delves into modern interpretations of the planet in social theory, inspired by the emergence of the Anthropocene. This lens reveals a dynamic, co-constitutive relationship, tilting less towards the unilateral commands of “nature” and more towards understanding the evolution of human life and societal structures within Earth’s expansive temporal and spatial realms. The third section further unpacks these developmental ideas by juxtaposing the theories of Bruno Latour and Tim Ingold. The paper contends that both approaches endeavor to illuminate the complex processes underpinning the evolution of life forms, underscoring the significance of culture. In conclusion, the intricate postnatural landscape of the Anthropocene necessitates a more integrated human-nature relationship. This calls for not only discarding dehumanizing facets of human nature, but also fostering a renewed sensibility – a deeper form of humanizing that acknowledges and celebrates our shared existence with other species and entities.
Kroz ovu perspektivu otkriva sedinamična, ko-konstitutivna veza, koja manje naginje jednostranom diktatu „prirode“ a višeka razumevanju evolucije ljudskog života i društvenih struktura unutar prostranih vremenskih i prostornih domena Zemlje.

AB - This essay represents a reflection on the role and relevance of the concept of human nature in archaeology, inspired by the ideas about human nature presented and elaborated by Maria Kronfeldner in the book What’s Left of Human Nature?. It is a comment from an archaeologist’s perspective. Kronfeldner formulated three ways in which human nature can be conceptualized: classificatory, descriptive and explanatory human nature. In the text, I review the archaeological and anthropological topics for which the three aspects of human nature are relevant. In the first part, I address the problems related to the concepts of classificatory and descriptive human nature in the late Pleistocene, when Homo sapiens was not the only species of the genus Homo on the planet. In the second part, I discuss the role of human nature from the epistemological position when it comes to the theoretical basis of reconstructing human behavior in the past and the more general anthropological issue of establishing cross-cultural regularities and laws. This is by no means a comprehensive and detailed survey of the potentially relevant topics, but it should illustrate the usefulness and relevance of Kronfeldner’s concepts for the fields of archaeology and anthropology.

AB - This paper presents several documents kept in the archive of the city of Sombor in the fund of the Magistrate of the Free Royal City 1749-1918, which refer to an interesting case of an attempt to challenge the treatment given to two patients by the city
surgeon, Antonius Merkel. The lawsuit was filed by another doctor, Carl Reitzinger, accusing his colleague of excessive treatment costs and the use of certain medication. Although the attached documents do not shed light on the conclusion of the dispute, one
gets the impression that Antonius Merkel successfully justifies his actions. The transcribed and translated documents provide significant insight into the nature of medical
treatment in Sombor in the second half of the 18th century.

AB - Theory of Mind (ToM) is a social-cognitive ability to understand the mental states of others. ToM functions are compromised in the case of mental disorders characterized by cognitive impairments. The Faux Pas Recognition test (FPRT) is considered a good measure of verbal aspects of ToM as it measures social adaptation through the adequate interpretation of potentially sensitive and awkward social situations. However, data on FPRT psychometric properties is somewhat limited. The aim of the present study is the psychometric evaluation of the FPRT in Serbian population. The adapted version in Serbian has been administered to 268 healthy participants, 30 patients with schizophrenia and 31 with bipolar affective disorder. The results show a high internal consistencies of Faux Pas stories (α = .954), Control stories (α = .929) and overall test (α = .936). Both Horn’s parallel analysis and confirmatory factor analysis indicated that a single-factor solution is optimal, supporting the premise of a general ToM ability underlying performance across test. The Faux Pas test showed good discriminative power in differentiation between individuals from healthy and clinical populations making it a useful clinical instrument.

AB - The paper discussed Vladimir Nikolić’s project Walking with Water (2022) as
an example of new media art practice that investigates the basic and constitutive
questions of the image and its relationship to reality within the context of
contemporary digital and internet culture and the visual perception regimes shaped
by this culture. The Walking with Water project was a challenging and ambitious
installation of the monumental scale, juxtaposing two video artworks: 800 meters
(2019) and Document (2022), conceived for the Serbian Pavilion at the Venice
Biennale 2022. The procedure, techniques, and methods of image realization as
well as the significance and the meaning of references to the history of abstract art
and the modernist concept of self-referentiality, were the main topics of discussion.
The effects and meanings of the relationship between the optical experience of
physical reality and the immediate bodily experience of space on the one hand and
the image as a “duplicate” of that experience on the other hand, as well as their
different materialities, the gap between the image and the reality that the image
represents/aspires to represent, were analyzed. Both video artworks are based on
the exploration of an optical image that would rethink the relationship between
senses and media and reassess Kittler’s assertion about media as tools that provide
a model or metaphor for understanding our senses. Secondly, these two video
artworks are an expression of the problematization of life as a function of images
and imagination that, as Flusser says, “slide into hallucination” or, to put it more
simply, into the “tyranny of choice” and consumption. The paper also discussed
whether the video artworks in this project also entail new pictorial effects that
can be realized with digital technology, but above all whether the procedures, the
methods of image realization and the image itself speak for the articulation of a
post-anthropocentric critical position and the re-evaluation of the image user into a
post-anthropocentric observer and post-anthropocentric subject. It is concludes that
the fact that the submitting the camera to what it looks at and not the other way around, especially when that gaze is directed at nature and its basic elements, water
and air, which are captured and described by means of four dimensions (height,
width, depth and time), consequently the dematerialization of the media in favour
of the image, as well as the projection in scales related to physical experience,
provide sufficient arguments for the posthumanist approach in the distribution of
the sensible.

AB - The aim of this paper is to show how a monastic environment can be regarded as providing shelter for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) individuals in the Middle Ages. By drawing on the recent literature in the history of medicine that traces the signs and symptoms of ASD in Hildegard of Bingen, a Benedictine abbess from the 12th century, we will turn to her invented language Lingua Ignota as a source of both her diagnosis and a manner of dealing with her disability. We invoke contemporary embodied and ecological approaches to cognition and its impairments in order to understand how the medieval monastic sociomaterial niche could have played a crucial role in the inclusion and therapy of ASD individuals.

Despite periods of crisis and societal transitions, andragogy has demonstrated remarkable resilience, remaining relevant and influential in the edu-cational landscape. The current study program at the Department of Andragogy at the University of Belgrade is depicted at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. By analysing master’s and doctoral theses, and published scientif ic papers, the paper provides insights into the prevalent issues and topics in the f ield. The f indings underscore the impact and relevance of andragogy in Serbia and suggest its future prospects. Upholding its core principles and holistic approach, andragogy can play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the past and the present, leading to the revitalisation of adult education and shaping the trajectory of the discipline itself in Serbia and beyond.

AB - Background:
Women’s role as patients is associated with power relationships embedded in society. Although trust in the health care system is a general prerequisite for positive health outcomes, practices regarding women’s agency in healthcare systems in Southeastern Europe reinforce women’s passivity. Most of the current psychological measures of trust have been constructed and validated in “WEIRD” (samples that are drawn from populations that are White, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic) countries, thus having a limited application in other social contexts.
Objectives:
We aimed to construct an instrument for assessing women’s trust in healthcare systems to describe the structure of trust: Women’s Trust and Confidence in the Healthcare System scale.
Design:
Two independent samples (N1 = 329; N2 = 333) of adult women in Serbia voluntarily completed an online questionnaire. The questionnaire comprised 20 trust-related items which were selected from an extensive collection of women’s experiences in the healthcare system and evaluated by experts on a 5-point Likert-type scale.
Methods:
We used exploratory factor analysis of the Women’s Trust and Confidence in the Healthcare System scale to analyze the structure of trust in the first sample data set and validated it with the second sample using confirmatory factor analysis. We tested concurrent validity by exploring how women’s trust in the healthcare system predicts health-related behaviors (multigroup structural equation modeling). All analyses were conducted using R statistical software.
Results:
The Women’s Trust and Confidence in the Healthcare System scale (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.86) indicated a three-factor structure of trust in the healthcare system: trust in healthcare professionals, distrust in the public healthcare system, and confidence in healthcare system. This was validated using an independent sample. Interpersonal trust positively predicted women’s desirable health behaviors, while trust in the system had a negative impact.
Conclusion:
The Women’s Trust and Confidence in the Healthcare System scale captures women’s trust in a paternalistic healthcare system, is reliable, and has a stable three-factor structure. The study’s findings reveal the relationship between women’s trust and health-related behavior: in paternalistic environments, trust reinforces women’s passivity.

radova o kvalitetu nastavnika u aktuelnom društveno-političkom kontekstu, pregledom dokumenata najdominantnijih globalnih obrazovnih politika, ali i nacionalnih strategija razvoja obrazovanja i vaspitanja. Kao
centralne vrednosti pomenutih politika identifikovane su tržišne vrednosti, standardizacija, individualizam,
lična odgovornost nastavnika i opšta instrumentalizacija obrazovanja.
važnost participacije nastavnika u evaluativnom procesu, a u službi dekonstrukcije postojećih obrazaca moći

AB - Although it lacks a solid evidence base, people use traditional, complementary, and alternative
medicine (TCAM), and they do so in three distinct ways: 1) for preventive purposes, 2)
complementarily to prescribed therapy, and 3) as an alternative to it. While preventive use of
TCAM is of least concern, these treatments can sometimes have detrimental interactions with
conventional when used as complementary, and especially as an alternative to treatment. Using
TCAM instead of conventional treatments can delay efficient cure and decrease the chance of
recovery. Previous studies have indicated that the use of TCAM is rooted in the “irrational
mindset” (IM) - a composite of irrational beliefs and cognitive biases. However, different ways
of using TCAM may not be equally irrational. Here, we explored whether the IM predicts the
three ways of TCAM use. Participants from a nationally representative Serbian sample (N =
1003) filled in a set of the IM measures: Medical conspiracy theories (ɑ = .83), Superstition (ɑ
= .70), Magical beliefs about health (ɑ = .77), Extrasensory beliefs (ɑ = .77), and Naturalness
bias (single item). They also indicated how they typically used different domains of TCAM
practices (preventively, complementarily, alternatively, or none). We coded their answers “1”
if they indicated that they used a domain in a particular way and with “0” otherwise.
We tested the explanatory power of IM variables for the ways of TCAM use within three binary
logistic regression models, one for each way of use. The irrational mindset was the most
predictive for the alternative use of TCAM (χ2(5) = 40.56, p < .001; Nagelkerke R2 = .07).
Those endorsing medical conspiracy theories (OR = 1.48, p = .001) and extrasensory
perception beliefs (OR = 1.41, p = .009) were more likely to turn to TCAM alternative to the
prescribed therapy. On the other hand, the predictive power of IM was quite weak for
preventive (χ2(5) = 14.39, p = .013; Nagelkerke R2 = .02) and complementary use (χ2(5) =
18.06, p = .003; Nagelkerke R2 = .02) suggesting these behaviors not to be irrational.
Whilst abandoning treatment and turning to TCAM is the rarest scenario (17%), it is the most
dangerous one, particularly in case of life-threatening illnesses. This is why health
communication interventions must cut deeper and also address its underlying irrational beliefs:
endorsing unfounded extrasensory abilities and dismissing official medicine due to so-called
“Big pharma conspiracies”.

Predictors of Ethnic identity delegitimization in two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina

AB - Ethnic identity delegitimization (EIDL) is a belief that ethnic groups with a shorter history have
less rights to self-determination and recognition than those with a longer history. Although this
belief is defined as a general tendency - i.e., unrelated to a particular ethnic group - it can be
exploited in (post-)conflict contexts to deny the rights of adversarial groups. In the region of
ex-Yugoslavia, it is a widespread defensive strategy to diminish the outgroup’s legitimacy,
especially for those groups whose ethnic identity was defined through religious affiliation (e.g.,
Bosniaks, who were labeled as Muslims in Yugoslavia). Previous studies showed that EIDL is
rooted in ideological attitudes and meta-identity beliefs. EIDL was also found to predict
attitudes towards the groups whose identity is usually disproven in nationalistic narratives but
not towards those whose identity is perceived as stable. However, there is still no evidence that
the predictors of EIDL are unique across ethnic groups. We address this gap using a community
sample from Bosnia and Herzegovina (N = 763). Around half of the participants (51%) self-
declared as Bosniaks, while the rest self-declared as Serbs. Participants filled in the short EIDL
scale (four items, ɑ = .94) and three items measuring Ethnic identification (ɑ = .85), and
reported their religiosity (single-item) and social and economic political orientation (single-
item measures, high scores indicating right-wing/conservative orientation). To test the
predictors of EIDL across the two ethnic groups, we built a hierarchical linear regression
model. The first step indicated that Serbs hold higher EIDL beliefs on average (β = .19, p <
.001). In the second step, social political orientation (β = .21,p < .001) and Ethnic identification
(β = .15, p < .001) emerged as significant predictors of EIDL over and above ethnicity (ΔR2 =
.12, ΔF(4, 757) = 24.89, p < .001). Finally, in step 3 (ΔR2 = .01, ΔF(2, 755) = 4.43, p = .012),
we observed a significant interaction between Ethnic identification and ethnicity (β = .07, p =
.018). However, their main effects were insignificant (ps > .11), indicating that Ethnic
identification predicted EIDL only in the sub-sample of Serbs, but not Bosniaks. Our results
are in line with previous studies suggesting that EIDL is rooted in ideology. They also shed
new light on its relation to Ethnic identification, indicating that it varies across the groups
regarding their perceived identity stability.

declared as Bosniaks, while the rest self-declared as Serbs.
They also shed
new light on its relation to Ethnic identification, indicating that it varies across the groups
regarding their perceived identity stability.",

AB - This chapter tackled the reception of Dewey’s work in different political eras of an other-than-Western context, namely, that of former Yugoslavia and Serbia. The chapter shows how different ideological positioning of the state politics in different eras, within a relatively short time line, informed the reading, interpretation and application of Dewey’s work. The lessons for an emancipatory classroom practice is the consideration of how ideological and political positioning of any country/state informs the reception of any ideas, whether they are deemed emancipatory or not.

AB - On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the declaration of the independence of the United States of America in 1926, the Sesquicentennial International Exposition was organised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1925, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes had been invited to take part in the exhibition. The invitation was followed by a series of difficulties in organising the presentation, dispute over the involvement of Tomislav Krizman in the preparation of the Yugoslav pavilion and a conflict with the Belgrade artists. In the end, the government abandoned the idea of a national presentation due to financial reasons. Nevertheless, several Yugoslav artists participated in this major international exhibition, thanks to the initiative of the sculptor Ivan Meštrović and with the organisational support of the Yugoslav Circle from New York. Using archival and periodical sources, the paper examines the organisational aspects and circumstances of the participation of Yugoslav artists in the Sesquicentennial International Exposition and the reception of this first joint presentation of Yugoslav art in the USA, in which works of numerous artists from Zagreb, Belgrade and Ljubljana were exhibited. The participation of Yugoslav artists will be considered in two ways: as a rare example of artistic self-organisation in the context of Yugoslav exhibition practices abroad and as an initiative that reveals the complex and dissonant infrastructure of Yugoslav exhibition and cultural policy in the interwar period.

AB - In the early stages of the development of Serbian culture, Raška (Rascia) had a prominent
and often leading role among the territories inhabited by Serbs. In the 9th and 10th centuries, this
region, which at the time housed the nucleus of
Serbian political life, began to bring forth monuments that would have lasting significance for the
evolution of national art and without which its
genesis would be very difficult to understand.
From the second half of the 12th and throughout the 13th century, Raška saw the construction of religious monuments whose architecture, sculpture, and wall paintings would decisively influence the building and emerging identity profile of Serbian medieval culture in an area much broader than Raška itself.

AB - Although there have been many studies on the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and emergency remote education (ERE) on students, there has not been enough research about gifted students’ experience. This paper aims to understand gifted students’ perceptions of effective and ineffective school practices during ERE. Gifted students were recruited on the recommendation of school counselors based on students’ demonstrated exceptional abilities and achievements in one or more areas. Thus, purposive homogeneous sample of gifted students in Serbia consisted of 19 gifted students from elementary schools and 11 secondary school students. The conducted semi-structured interviews covered various themes related to students' school and out-of-school life during the pandemic, but for this paper we focused on qualitative data analysis of effective and ineffective school practices Thematic analysis yielded six themes referring to effective, engaging practices and eight themes referring to ineffective, disengaging practices. Gifted students positively assessed additional educational support, video conferencing and using LMS. Additional support was in the form of additional group or individual classes (in-person or online) or posting additional materials in LMS. However, students reported that additional classes were closely tied to competitions and that they are not organized regularly throughout the school year even in regular circumstances. Disengaging factors were predominantly related to traditional teaching methods and lack of interaction, absence of additional educational support from the school, difficult monitoring of assessment, epidemiological measures and lack of individualization and differentiation during the regular classes. Yet, many students showed understanding for teachers and have not developed negative emotions due to insufficient enrichment and support. In addition, when students initiated contact - teachers responded effectively. As a compensatory mechanism, younger students mentioned support from family, while secondary school students managed to improve their self-regulation and employ new learning strategies. We conclude that gifted students were not recognized as a vulnerable group, being left to organize themselves. Future studies should explore their needs related to ERE more deeply and acknowledge the perspectives of their teachers.

AB - Adolescents, often referred to as digital natives, navigate a world where virtual connections
coexist with face-to-face interactions. Social networks have become an integral aspect of their
socialization process, providing them with platforms to connect, share content, and
communicate. In this study, we wanted to explore why Serbian adolescents use social media
and what they consider the advantage of online communication compared to communicating
face-to-face. In total, 405 high-school students participated in research by filling out online
questionnaire, and 391 (64% female, Mage = 16, SDage = 1.4) reported using social network sites
(SNSs). All of them answered open-ended questions about their behaviour on SNSs and
described the reasons for preferences made in choosing a particular SNS. Results showed that
Serbian adolescents are, on average, active on four different SNS (M = 4.21, SD = 2.12), they
most often communicate with their friends (91.6%) and romantic partners (4.2%), and 81% of
them had their first SN profile by the age of 12. The most popular SNSs among them are
Instagram (97.2% reported having a profile on this SN), TikTok (65.2%), Facebook (51.4%)
and Snapchat (46.5%). An inductive qualitative content analysis assessed the main reasons for
using their favourite (and most often used) SNS. Overall, we identified six main categories of
reasons i.e. factors influencing social media usage: (1) social interaction (e.g. staying in
contact, feeling of belonging, communication; 53.2%); (2) content (interesting, educational,
sphere of interest; 37.6%); (3) specific (primarily technical) characteristics of that SNS (16%),
(4) search for information and inspiration (7.4%), (5) boredom (2.8%) and (6) escaping or
distraction from problems (0.8%). Discussing the results, we compared them to previous results
about the internet behaviour of Serbian children.

AB - The conceptualization of mental disorders varies among professionals, impacting diagnosis, treatment, and research. This
cross-disciplinary study aimed to understand how various professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, medical
students, philosophers, and social sciences experts, perceive mental disorders, their attitudes towards the disease status of
certain mental states, and their emphasis on biological versus social explanatory attributions. A survey of 371 participants
assessed their agreement on a variety of conceptual statements and the relative influence of biological or social explanatory
attribution for different mental states. Our findings revealed a consensus on the need for multiple explanatory perspectives in understanding psychiatric conditions and the influence of social, cultural, moral, and political values on diagnosis
and classification. Psychiatrists demonstrated balanced bio-social explanatory attributions for various mental conditions,
indicating a potential shift from the biological attribution predominantly observed among medical students and residents
in psychiatry. Further research into factors influencing these differing perspectives is necessary.

Cinematic Self-Criticism as a Method of Justification of Contemporary Politics: The Case of Barbie and Oppenheimer

AB - The role of mass media in the dissemination of political propaganda has been widely explored; however, this research focuses on more sublime political messages that are conveyed through films, particularly blockbusters that target relatively broad audiences. Since the beginning, Hollywood movies have served as a reflection of viewpoints that have been socially acceptable at a given moment. Nowadays, filmmakers and movie studios often use the method of mild self-deprecation as a way of legitimizing broader political messages. In other words, they criticize themselves to avoid much harsher criticism from the audience. We use the recent examples of Barbie and Oppenheimer to explore the current trend in strategies - such as limited self-awareness and pseudo-self-criticism - that are used to justify far more glaring issues with capitalism and (American) imperialism.

Our unique dance: Deviations in the appearance of the phases of the couples’ contact episode in the initial stage of couple therapy

AB - Relying on the theory of Gestalt therapy, in this study we sequenced in-session couple
dynamics aiming to identify aspects of communication that facilitate or hinder constructive
exchange. Initially, we identified five phases of a contact episode, each of which has several
variations: (a) Emergence of a need, (b) Habitual attempt to satisfy the need, (c) Impasse, (d)
Novelty and regression, and (e) Constructive dialogical relationship. These phases are
tentatively successive, i.e., there are regularities in their appearance. However, deviations in
their progression were observed, which could be utilized in process diagnostics in the initial
stage of couple therapy. Mapping these irregularities is the aim of this paper. The participants
were six heterosexual couples (29–45 years old, ≥2 years together, 5 without children). The
data was collected through videotaping the 2nd therapy session. The material for the analysis
were contact episodes: couple interaction regarding the self-selected topic, during which the
therapist assumed the observer role. Thematic analysis was applied by the authors, with the
interpretation based on a dialogical approach and theory of Gestalt therapy. The first variability
is that the appearance of the latter phases is not mandatory (e.g., unwavering defensiveness
keeps the partners in the third phase, Impasse). Second, the order of the phases is not certain
(e.g., the prominent power imbalance within the couple leads to skipping the Impasse). Third,
the duration of the phases is not uniform (e.g., deflection prolongs the Emergence of a need
phase). Fourth, the contact episode development is characterized by circularity, i.e., returning
to previous stages (e.g., when partners are unequally ready for novelty, they create back-and-forth
movement: one introduces constructive dialogue characteristic of later stages, the other
contributes to regressing and reenacting the scheme). Fifth, if a couple has two contact episodes
within the same session, their course may differ: in the second episode, the initial stages are
condensed or completely skipped, and the couple begins the exchange with a rapid jump to
chronologically later stages (e.g., to the Impasse – repeating their scheme until exhaustion is
reached). Finally, particular variations of one phase are more often paired with specific
variations of other phases of the contact episode. The findings contribute to the therapists'
efforts to fine-tune their interventions to the here-and-now developments in order to facilitate
the supportive aspects of dialogical relationship.
