AB - Resolving conflicts in close relationships is challenging, especially when emotional injury is
involved, because this entails balancing partially conflicting stakes: maintaining the relationship
while preserving a favorable self- and other-view. Language–focused approaches highlight
important aspects of this process. Discursive psychology reveals how actors utilize rhetorical
devices to impose their own version and co-construct interactional identities. Narrative
psychology focuses on the personal story stabilized through multiple retellings and permanent
self- and other-constructions. However, our study of conflict negotiation and identity coconstruction
in adolescence highlights that, in addition to the analysis of discursive aspects, it is
relevant to conceptualize and analyse phenomenological and affective processes that strikingly
shape the participants’ language use and story creation. These include authentic emotions
(e.g. feeling hurt) and disclosing one’s own vulnerability (e.g. insecurities, partial responsibility
for relationship disturbance). The relevance of phenomenological processes is particularly
evident when participants use less constructive strategies for friendship rupture repair, which
entail verbal masking of unresolved tension by minimizing negative feelings, declaring that the
problem has “magically” disappeared and insisting on an unchanged level of closeness. The
unresolved conflict is linguistically, paralinguistically and performatively marked by: (a) the internal
contradictions in the personal story, (b) salient disjunctions of the versions offered by different
actors, (c) pronounced differences between the private and the shared narrative, preventing the
other from understanding one’s authentic experiences, and (d) perpetuated regressions to the
core plot, i.e. issue that caused the conflict. These contradictions, omissions and repetitions
convincingly (though indirectly) point to the affective processes that are either reflexively or prereflexively
present in both individual stories and close personal interactions, thus emphasizing
the importance of theoretical integration of phenomenological and discursive processes when
studying conflict negotiation in close relationships.

How resistance to social change undermines personal change? Perspective of the Model of the Agonistic Self (MAS)

AB - The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the usefulness of the MAS in analyzing relatedness
between social and personal change. MAS is developed by integrating key ideas from Dialogical
Self Theory with contributions of Foucault’s analytics of power, and conceptualizes the self as
a polyphony of voices struggling to obtain power. The model entails: a) functions of voices, b)
forms and practices of exercising power, c) relationships between voices, and d) formative and
legitimizing effect of the context. Context-embedded self appears in the form of a constellation
of voices whose time-limited dynamic follows the specific and repetitive scenario which has a
particular psychosocial purpose. The focus of this paper is “King and his Kingdom” constellation
– “default” functioning when a person’s prevailing values, personified by the King’s coalition,
direct the behavior. The disturbance in the order of power between social discourses can lead to
legitimization of the interior voice which represents values different from the King’s. This voice
can shortly “take over the scene”, which marks a temporary personal change, with the possibility of
becoming a new King. However, reasserting the previous order of power between social discourses
results in strong delegitimization of change within the self, and in restoring the prevailment of “the
old” King, even when the person identifies more with the values proposed by the prospective “new”
King. This points to the strong dependence of permanent personal change upon the change within
the social context, which will be illustrated by the case study from the psychotherapeutic practice.

AB - The existance of soldiers in monastery or bishopric service was confirmed in numerous
Serbian medieval documents. The very expression "church soldier" was noted in several
monastery charters. Churches and monasteries don't have subordinated noblemen from the group
of highly ranked or medium ranked noblemen. However, there are numerous examples where
the church subjects are lower ranked noblemen, soldiers, small landowners or "pronija" holders.
The needs of church institutions for military class was not big. Yet, each one of the more
important monasteries had its crew which used to protect the very monastery, its squares, roads
and the safety of the property and monk community. The earliest mentioning of church soldiers
are found in the charter of king Milutin for the St. George monastery in Skopje, but their duties
were based on the old laws which used to be applies in the estate of Studenica and Mileševa
monastery.
In the process of forming large church estates, the rulers used to find the estates held
by small noblemen. They were mostly subordinated to monasteries then, and they would owe
their duties to the church master, instead of the ruler. A great number of small noblemen was
mentioned on Banjskа, Dečani and Saint Archangels properties. The charters of Dečani
monastery testify that it had a numerous and well developed military crew, inside of which there
were differentiations and various duties as well. At the head of the whole military crew was
"čelnik," and to his command laymen, military men, guards and semi-military craftsmen were
subordinated. Military horsemen are small noblemen heirs- at least seven families, which were
alternated in the military crew of the fort. Prohor and his men, with ten families were holding
guard, and the maintainance of the monastery fort was given to master Djordjija and his
companions. The monastery of Holy Archangels near Prizren also had a group of small
noblemen at its disposal. This monastery had at its disposal the fortress of Višegrad in which the
military crew in charge of the defense was based. In post Nemanjić era the number of small
noblemen mentioned in monastery charters was smaller. Monastery Ravanica and Resava were
begirded with solid forts like many other towns of that period and they certainly had serious crew
which was under ruler's jurisdiction.

AB - Although there have been many studies on the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and emergency remote education (ERE) on students, there has not been enough research about gifted students’ experience. This paper aims to understand gifted students’ perceptions of effective and ineffective school practices during ERE. Gifted students were recruited on the recommendation of school counselors based on students’ demonstrated exceptional abilities and achievements in one or more areas. Thus, purposive homogeneous sample of gifted students in Serbia consisted of 19 gifted students from elementary schools and 11 secondary school students. The conducted semi-structured interviews covered various themes related to students' school and out-of-school life during the pandemic, but for this paper we focused on qualitative data analysis of effective and ineffective school practices Thematic analysis yielded six themes referring to effective, engaging practices and eight themes referring to ineffective, disengaging practices. Gifted students positively assessed additional educational support, video conferencing and using LMS. Additional support was in the form of additional group or individual classes (in-person or online) or posting additional materials in LMS. However, students reported that additional classes were closely tied to competitions and that they are not organized regularly throughout the school year even in regular circumstances. Disengaging factors were predominantly related to traditional teaching methods and lack of interaction, absence of additional educational support from the school, difficult monitoring of assessment, epidemiological measures and lack of individualization and differentiation during the regular classes. Yet, many students showed understanding for teachers and have not developed negative emotions due to insufficient enrichment and support. In addition, when students initiated contact - teachers responded effectively. As a compensatory mechanism, younger students mentioned support from family, while secondary school students managed to improve their self-regulation and employ new learning strategies. We conclude that gifted students were not recognized as a vulnerable group, being left to organize themselves. Future studies should explore their needs related to ERE more deeply and acknowledge the perspectives of their teachers.

AB - This paper presents several documents kept in the archive of the city of Sombor in the fund of the Magistrate of the Free Royal City 1749-1918, which refer to an interesting case of an attempt to challenge the treatment given to two patients by the city
surgeon, Antonius Merkel. The lawsuit was filed by another doctor, Carl Reitzinger, accusing his colleague of excessive treatment costs and the use of certain medication. Although the attached documents do not shed light on the conclusion of the dispute, one
gets the impression that Antonius Merkel successfully justifies his actions. The transcribed and translated documents provide significant insight into the nature of medical
treatment in Sombor in the second half of the 18th century.

AB - Understanding the nature of copying errors in the cultural transmission of material culture is highly relevant for students of cultural evolution, especially in the field of evolutionary archaeology. In this paper, we set up a classic transmission chain experiment, which involves making clay anthropomorphic figurines, to explore the nature of the copying error related to the production of 3D objects. The experiment consists of four independent transmission chains, each with 10 participants. Three chains are non-expert chains, as they consist of students of archaeology and psychology with no formal training in arts. The fourth is an expert chain consisting of art students. Our results show that the copying error predictably differs between the experts and the non-experts – it is lower in the expert chain. However, in both groups, the error is higher than predicted by the models that assume that the copying error is only due to imperfections in the perception of linear dimensions. Taken together, these two results suggest that, in addition to the error in perception, the error in the execution contributes significantly to the overall error, as predicted by the recently formulated object-mediated transmission model (Crema et al., 2023). The results of our experiment also show that the errors are often biased rather than random, suggesting that the transmission process involves the transformations anticipated by the cultural attraction theory.

AB - On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the declaration of the independence of the United States of America in 1926, the Sesquicentennial International Exposition was organised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1925, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes had been invited to take part in the exhibition. The invitation was followed by a series of difficulties in organising the presentation, dispute over the involvement of Tomislav Krizman in the preparation of the Yugoslav pavilion and a conflict with the Belgrade artists. In the end, the government abandoned the idea of a national presentation due to financial reasons. Nevertheless, several Yugoslav artists participated in this major international exhibition, thanks to the initiative of the sculptor Ivan Meštrović and with the organisational support of the Yugoslav Circle from New York. Using archival and periodical sources, the paper examines the organisational aspects and circumstances of the participation of Yugoslav artists in the Sesquicentennial International Exposition and the reception of this first joint presentation of Yugoslav art in the USA, in which works of numerous artists from Zagreb, Belgrade and Ljubljana were exhibited. The participation of Yugoslav artists will be considered in two ways: as a rare example of artistic self-organisation in the context of Yugoslav exhibition practices abroad and as an initiative that reveals the complex and dissonant infrastructure of Yugoslav exhibition and cultural policy in the interwar period.

internet kulture i njima oblikovanih režima vizuelnog opažanja. Fokus će biti na
pitanjima postupka, načina i metoda realizacije slike. Analiziraće se efekti i značenja
odnosa optičkog doživljaja fizičke stvarnosti i neposrednog telesnog iskustva
artikulaciji jedne postantropocentrične kritičke pozicije i prevrednovanju korisnika
slike u postantropocentričnog posmatrača i subjekta.
AB - The paper discussed Vladimir Nikolić’s project Walking with Water (2022) as
an example of new media art practice that investigates the basic and constitutive
questions of the image and its relationship to reality within the context of
contemporary digital and internet culture and the visual perception regimes shaped
by this culture. The Walking with Water project was a challenging and ambitious
installation of the monumental scale, juxtaposing two video artworks: 800 meters
(2019) and Document (2022), conceived for the Serbian Pavilion at the Venice
Biennale 2022. The procedure, techniques, and methods of image realization as
well as the significance and the meaning of references to the history of abstract art
and the modernist concept of self-referentiality, were the main topics of discussion.
The effects and meanings of the relationship between the optical experience of
physical reality and the immediate bodily experience of space on the one hand and
the image as a “duplicate” of that experience on the other hand, as well as their
different materialities, the gap between the image and the reality that the image
represents/aspires to represent, were analyzed. Both video artworks are based on
the exploration of an optical image that would rethink the relationship between
senses and media and reassess Kittler’s assertion about media as tools that provide
a model or metaphor for understanding our senses. Secondly, these two video
artworks are an expression of the problematization of life as a function of images
and imagination that, as Flusser says, “slide into hallucination” or, to put it more
simply, into the “tyranny of choice” and consumption. The paper also discussed
whether the video artworks in this project also entail new pictorial effects that
can be realized with digital technology, but above all whether the procedures, the
methods of image realization and the image itself speak for the articulation of a
post-anthropocentric critical position and the re-evaluation of the image user into a
post-anthropocentric observer and post-anthropocentric subject. It is concludes that
the fact that the submitting the camera to what it looks at and not the other way around, especially when that gaze is directed at nature and its basic elements, water
and air, which are captured and described by means of four dimensions (height,
width, depth and time), consequently the dematerialization of the media in favour
of the image, as well as the projection in scales related to physical experience,
provide sufficient arguments for the posthumanist approach in the distribution of
the sensible.

an example of new media art practice that investigates the basic and constitutive
questions of the image and its relationship to reality within the context of

Our unique dance: Deviations in the appearance of the phases of the couples’ contact episode in the initial stage of couple therapy

AB - Relying on the theory of Gestalt therapy, in this study we sequenced in-session couple
dynamics aiming to identify aspects of communication that facilitate or hinder constructive
exchange. Initially, we identified five phases of a contact episode, each of which has several
variations: (a) Emergence of a need, (b) Habitual attempt to satisfy the need, (c) Impasse, (d)
Novelty and regression, and (e) Constructive dialogical relationship. These phases are
tentatively successive, i.e., there are regularities in their appearance. However, deviations in
their progression were observed, which could be utilized in process diagnostics in the initial
stage of couple therapy. Mapping these irregularities is the aim of this paper. The participants
were six heterosexual couples (29–45 years old, ≥2 years together, 5 without children). The
data was collected through videotaping the 2nd therapy session. The material for the analysis
were contact episodes: couple interaction regarding the self-selected topic, during which the
therapist assumed the observer role. Thematic analysis was applied by the authors, with the
interpretation based on a dialogical approach and theory of Gestalt therapy. The first variability
is that the appearance of the latter phases is not mandatory (e.g., unwavering defensiveness
keeps the partners in the third phase, Impasse). Second, the order of the phases is not certain
(e.g., the prominent power imbalance within the couple leads to skipping the Impasse). Third,
the duration of the phases is not uniform (e.g., deflection prolongs the Emergence of a need
phase). Fourth, the contact episode development is characterized by circularity, i.e., returning
to previous stages (e.g., when partners are unequally ready for novelty, they create back-and-forth
movement: one introduces constructive dialogue characteristic of later stages, the other
contributes to regressing and reenacting the scheme). Fifth, if a couple has two contact episodes
within the same session, their course may differ: in the second episode, the initial stages are
condensed or completely skipped, and the couple begins the exchange with a rapid jump to
chronologically later stages (e.g., to the Impasse – repeating their scheme until exhaustion is
reached). Finally, particular variations of one phase are more often paired with specific
variations of other phases of the contact episode. The findings contribute to the therapists'
efforts to fine-tune their interventions to the here-and-now developments in order to facilitate
the supportive aspects of dialogical relationship.

AB - Drawing on the standpoints of Critical Pedagogy and the Emancipatory
view of education, this paper addresses the issue of developing alternative
educational practices that can lead to a change in relationships in the classroom
and possibly in the broader social context. In relation to some of the contemporary
pedagogical views, some alternative pedagogical models are presented that promote
changes in the relationships between teachers and students, and between students
themselves. In an effort to create a more democratic environment, we address the
question of how these models can also be establisheded in contemporary schools.
Starting from the promotion of didactic teacher strategies that support student
autonomy, some theoretical and practical pedagogical implications are highlighted
that can encourage teachers to actively and cooperatively change the classroom and
wider social relations and conditions with students. In addition, the paper provides
an overview of contemporary education and gives a general recommendation for
education workers who want to actively work for education based on ideas of
emancipation.

AB - The progressive pedagogical and didactic concepts developed since the beginning of the 20th century were the basis on which the current conceptualizations of cooperative learning have been developed. This paper problematizes the recognition, i.e. lack of recognition, of the specifics of theoretical frameworks underlying the concept of cooperative learning relevant for the understanding and explanation of this phenomenon. The research aims to analyse the specificity of the theoretical frameworks on which the concept of cooperative learning is based. The research method chosen was that of theoretical analysis. Different viewpoints have been established among the leading theoreticians in this field regarding the knowledge about cooperative learning, which should be integrated into a comprehensive conceptual framework. The specifics of these theoretical conceptualizations of cooperativeness point to different contextual frameworks in which cooperative learning is viewed. In the concluding remarks, the social interdependence theory has been identified as the one that yielded the largest number of practical solutions in the process of implementing cooperative learning and relevant empirical research, which makes it the most fruitful theoretical conceptualization in this field.
najveći broj praktičnih rešenja u procesu implementacije kooperativnog učenja i
konceptualizacijom u ovoj oblasti.

AB - The past several decades have seen a growing involvement of the private sector in public
primary and secondary education in many countries around the world. The increase in
educational privatization has emerged as a policy response to neoliberal and managerial
imperatives aimed at spending cuts, deregulation, liberalization and commercialization,
outsourcing, and the introduction of new providers of school services (Alexiadou, 2013,
p. 415). The involvement of private actors in public education is expected to be beneficial
per many proponents of educational privatization (e.g., international organizations,
policymakers, and scholars) (Robertson et al., 2012). Since educational privatization
takes various forms and manifests differently across the globe, we first need to consider
what is meant by educational privatization, before discussing its impact on equity in
education.

i zajedničko delovanje kroz tri dimenzije vaspitno-obrazovne prakse. Razumevanje kompleksnosti promene
Promena pristupa obrazovanju i liderska uloga

razumevanje procesa promene i vođenje promene u vaspitno-obrazovnoj praksi.

AB - This chapter describes changes in family structure and values and associated social tensions in Serbia since the dissolution of the former socialist Yugoslavia three decades ago. The authors address specific characteristics of sociocultural trauma related to civil wars and refugee crises, as well as the possible effects on relational well-being and mental health, including generational and gender differences, trans-generational transmission of trauma, and how past traumatic events are represented and revitalized in the present. The chapter concludes with practical implications for a systemic therapy approach to family adaptation and resilience, negotiating social change while deconstructing and reconstructing trauma-saturated narratives, balancing family cohesion and independence, and moving toward collective coping and healing.

AB - This study of the uprising of the voivode Grdan (1596–1597) was conducted
within a wider context of the Apostolic See and Pope Clement VIII’s plans for missionary work
by Franciscan Observants and Jesuits in the regions ruled by the Ottomans that was intended to
strength Catholic congregations. In the years preceding the Long War (1593–1606), a belief
emerged that the Ottoman Empire had weakened enough to easily collapse in the face of an
attack by united Christian states backed by major uprisings among the Christians under their
rule. The Apostolic See believed this would pave the way for mass conversion of Orthodox
Christians and Muslims. Such beliefs were promoted by various adventurists and self-proclaimed
servants of several royal courts. This paper is primarily based on the correspondence of Clement
VIII and Cardinal Cinzio Aldobrandini with Patriarch Jovan II Kantul and Archbishop Toma
Ursini, as well as on statements by Lazzaro Soranzo in his work L’Ottomanno. The paper will
also pinpoint more precisely voivode Grdan’s uprising in comparison to what historiography has
told us. Also, the names of some leaders of the people that supported him will be identified.

AB - At her first solo exhibition, titled Prostorne kompozicije (‘Spatial Compositions’)
and mounted in 1957 at the Gallery of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia in
Belgrade (Galerija ULUS-a), Olga Jevrić presented her ‘Proposals for Monuments’
(Predlozi za spomenike) – a group of abstract sculptures conceived as an indirect
critique of Yugoslavia’s memorial sculptural production at the time. As the artist explained, the exhibition was intended to present in a problematising way a turn from
‘conventional’ and ‘artistically unconvincing and naïve designs’ for public monuments that, ‘in their cold and typified production’ negate the human, along with
its suffering and heroic history. Advancing her abstract proposals for monuments
devoid of narrativity, Jevrić moved the focus of action away from the monolithic
element of sculpture into space as an event that derives the human potential and
commemorative function of this medium by engaging the viewer’s bodily perception, instead of representing the human body in sculpture, and thereby offered not
only a new form of reanimating memory through sculpture, but also a new syntax to
the language of sculpture in Serbian and Yugoslav art.
Starting in 1951, Jevrić was a regular contestant at public competitions for sculptural monuments dedicated to the suffering of World War II, winning several awards: a
Conditional First Prize for her design for a monument to fallen fighters in Prokuplje
in 1951; a first acquisition prize for her proposal for a memorial to the National
Liberation Struggle in Pljevlja in 1955; third acquisition prize at the competition for
a memorial park to the victims of fascist terror in Jajinci in 1957. In addition, she
also participated in competitions by invitation, including the following: the competition for proposals for a monument to fallen fighters in Čačak (1953), a monument
in Milanovac (1953–1954), a monument to the victims of fascism in Mauthausen
(1957), a monument to fallen fighters in Niš (1959), and a monument to resistance
in Ada (1959). However, her proposals for monuments, despite her awards, failed to
materialise in public space. The purpose of this paper is therefore to investigate the
cultural climate, societal conditions, and context of memorial sculptural production
in the 1950s that precluded the memorial plastic art of Olga Jevrić from acquiring a
public presence.

The purpose of this paper is therefore to investigate the
cultural climate, societal conditions, and context of memorial sculptural production
in the 1950s that precluded the memorial plastic art of Olga Jevrić from acquiring a
public presence.",

AB - This study is dedicated to the analysis of cultural perceptions of the New Wave (musical movement) within the Yugoslav context in the past decade (up to the 2020s). The observance of a particular anniversary brings forth a multitude of meanings ascribed to the event through recollections and nostalgic narratives. Inspired by Bennett and Rogers’ theoretical insights in „Popular Music Scenes and Culture of Memory” (2016) regarding „memory bursts” in creating and con-suming popular music, the primary objective was to explore how the narrative of the New Wave is currently constructed. Through an analysis of various events organized in the former Yugoslavia over the past decade, revolving around the New Wave, this study aims to identify cultural perceptions of this phenomenon as well as to highlight its recurring and repetitive key elements. Each analyzed event received media coverage, thus making online sources a fertile resource base for this research.

AB - This paper examines the ordinances regulating the dining rules for monks as defined in
the Rule of St Benedict of Nursia as well as the Chilandar and Studenica Typikons of St Sava of
Serbia. St Benedict had kept in mind St John Cassian’s recommendations, while St Sava look to
the typikon of the Evergetide Monastery in Constantinople. Both authors paid great attention not
only to the type and the quantity of food and drinks laid before the brethren, but also to the
behaviour at the dining table. The dining room is considered one of the main rooms in a
monastery complex. In the Orthodox world it is part of the cult area, while in the Benedictine
abbey it is a transitory place between sacral and residential zones. Both traditions consider
communal meals a continuation of the worship, which is why they much attention is paid to
them. St Benedict and St Sava have both regulated that the monks should arrive to meals on time,
that they should dine in silence, without exaggerated movements and gestures, so they can
concentrate not only on eating and drinking, but also on the listening of the excerpts from the
Holy Bible or hagiographies which are read by one of the brothers. Monks are supposed to have
maximum two meals a day and both before sunset. All three sets of rules insist on orderly
kitchens and dining rooms, hygiene rules and restraint from excessive intake of food or drinks.
Food preparation and consumption outside the dining room is forbidden both to the Benedictine
order monks and to the Serbian monks on Athos and in Studenica. The duties of a cellerariusi.e.
of the dining table attendant and their assistants were defined in detail. Gluttony and negligent
behaviour were punished first by oral reprimand and if it failed to give result, then by removal
from the dining table and other punishments decided upon by the priors of the monasteries:
abbots i.e. hegumen. St Sava assigned much more attention to the eating during Easter, Christmas
or St Peter’s fasting periods, while St Benedict mentioned fasting in the passing, as something
taken for granted. As far as the concept of hospitability is concerned, it is evident that the two
communities for which the rules were written, differ in some aspects. As it happens,
Montecassino as St Benedict’s endowment and Studenica as the endowment of rulers, were
much more open to receiving guests – some of whom were quite eminent. Moreover, it is
regulated that many events of significance to the monastic community should take place in the
presence of representatives of both civil and church governments. St Sava has regulated how to
greet the guests in the Chilandar typikon, as copied from the Evergetide typikon, but this was
probably hard to implement consistently on Mount Athos where access was quite restricted to
strangers, in comparison to other monasteries. Regardless of evident differences, both traditions
show much respect for the concept of hospitability, because the presence of guests, especially
those of poor station, the sick, the abandoned by their families or wider communities, as well as
pilgrims, remind the monks of the continuous service to Christ through relinquishing personal
comforts and acceptance of others and otherness.
